Harry Potter
Harry来自古代德语名字Haimric, Haim对应英语里Home，ric对应英语里的Reich和rich
，这个词是“一家之主，说话算数的人”的意思。Harry还有可能是来自维京人的名字
Harold，是“一军之主”的意思，反正也是“说话算数的人”。
当年维京人拿下了不列颠半壁江山，大致如下图。
除了给不列颠留下大量的维京人名字和地名外，这些维京人还烧毁了大量的古英语的文
字。导致我们现在说的英语用的是经济发达的伦敦地区的发音，写的英文用的是起源于
没被维京人占领的Wessex的拼写……
有个说法说Potter是一个诺曼底名字，当年来自诺曼底的征服者威廉姆征服英格兰的时
候手下有个姓Potter的人因为战功卓著而被封了一块地，从此英国有了Potter这个姓。
所以不出意外的话Harry Potter应该是诺曼底人后裔。
诺曼底人也是来自北欧的维京人。有一年维京海盗围攻巴黎，法国国王为了解围把不列
塔尼（Britannia）旁边的一片地皮给了维京人，被称为Normandy->north-man-dy。

这是在Hogwarts北面的小镇。Hogsmeade是“猪（hog）的蜂蜜酒（meade）”的意思。
不知道有多少人问过hogwarts和hogsmeade在什么地方，书里说在苏格兰北部的Moray的
Dufftown附近。
Moray的位置如下。
不知道有多少人注意到哈利波特里面有好多苏格兰人名和苏格兰地名，也许是因
为作者住在苏格兰吧。住在苏格兰在很久以前的人是picts，苏格兰又被称为caledonia。
Hogsmeade是大约1000年前Hengist of Woodcroft建立的。Woodcroft里面Wood的意思估
计大家都知道。Croft是来自古德语的一个词，现在用来指苏格兰的小农场。
至于Hengist，这就是一个长故事了。
话说很久以前，不列颠岛是和欧洲大陆以及爱尔兰连在一起的。后来冰河结束后，海平
面上升，这太远了。

Cedric的名字来自Wessex第一个国王 Cerdic。
Cerdric传说是Odin的后人，是前面提到的Alfred the great的祖先，也是现在的
Elizabeth II的祖先。
但是！
但是Cedric是一个Briton人的名字，就是anglo saxon人到不列颠之前的的不列颠人的
名字。对应的现在的威尔士语里面的Caradog，是beloved的意思。因此，Cerdic多半不
是Odin的后人。
而且，英国王室里面有些继承关系是编造的，所以，现在的Elizabeth只是名义上的
Cerdric的后人。
Diggory是来自Dyke的人意思。不知道多少人还记得Hogwarts在苏格兰的Moray，Dyke也
在苏格兰的Moray。 |

种。
圣奥古斯丁的《上帝之城》這本名著，就是这个背景。哥特人已经占领了北非，现在要
进攻罗马。罗马人心惶惶，一日三惊。奥古斯丁写书鼓励大家，就算地上的罗马完蛋了
，天上的罗马还在，我们心中的罗马还在。只要忍耐到底，绝望的尽头就是希望，在绝
望中寻求希望，终能辉煌。
教会其实也很惨。比如先传教了不列颠岛的Romano-Briton人，就是已经罗马化的不列
颠原住民，盎格鲁撒克逊人来了，杀个干净。不列颠教会残余逃亡爱尔兰，所以爱尔兰
居然成了当时西欧最进步的地方（有本书：how Ireland saved Western Civilization
; 虽然有些吹，就是这个意思。爱尔兰小岛一个，没被蛮族洗到。保存了文明火种）

其父辈和丈夫的政治势力而得益，这些只要是合法的，就不应算入此类。但我估计她通
