不管好学校，一般学校，还是所谓的“烂校”，
想要读phd是一回事，
最后能拿到phd学位又是完完全全另外一回事，
再烂的学校也不敢乱发博士学位，
都有要求发表文章，
有博士资格考试，
有过candidacy的要求，
最后有对博士论文和答辩的要求，
这一步一步说简单还真不太简单，
至少每一步要砸一大把时间进去，区别就是聪明人可能会少用很多时间，
所以，这个要考虑清楚再想读不读下去，
你总不想砸一大把时间下去，最后全没用吧。
所以最后真能拿到phd，不管啥学校还是值得的。
如果不自己创业，一份工作仅仅是一份工作，
你的一切原创和辛苦，除了换来一些钱，其他统统是你雇主的，
很难一辈子都很爽，而且有自信的人会总感觉自己少了点什么，
但是读phd做的，虽然也是给老板“打工”，所有研究别人搜索的到你，
最后你老板不会用钱来补偿你，但会给你一个能跟你一辈子的title。
还是要想清楚你到底想不想要，如果不要日子久了，最后会不会总觉得人生有缺憾。 |

interview was taken last week and at the end of last week I received an
email from them. I was told "We would like to move forward with your
candidacy.", what does that mean? does it mean that they are considering me as the final first consideration candidate? or they may also consider others as well in the meantime?
By the way, they are recruiting for one position.

电面很顺利，北京满合的
但最后一个问题就是work authorization
强烈感觉到对方不想sponsor visa
还说现在劳工卡很难批什么的。。。
今天下午再上网一查status就变成not pursuing your candidacy for this position
晕，本来打算用这个position来平衡一下我面试dream job的压力来着
这下又变成在一棵树上吊着了，还是最喜欢那棵 |

还有个问题想问，我原定phd明年6月毕业，老板让提前找工作，所以这学期开始找。现
在拿到offer,老板也让提前毕业。可是graduate school那边candidacy form上的时间
还没改。秘书vacation 去了，要周三回来才能找秘书改。 如果我现在回复offer,公司
background check出来算不算cheating? (我是肯定可以2月毕业的，只是要几天办手续）
各位有经验的，不知bloomberg有没有 background check？都check 什么？ 谢谢大家

名额很快用完了。因为我的opt是今年10月份到期的，然后就只能extension了。之后就
发生了奇葩的事情。。。公司先是给我打了一个电话，直接说无法给我解决身份问题，
没法办opt-extension, 说他们不是E-verify公司，所以实在没有办法，欢迎我以后解
决了身份再来申请。然后又发了封邮件，说offer废了。我就傻了，这么大的公司竟然
不是e-verify? 而且之前面试接offer前前后后HR都说好了的H1b，opt extension什么
都能办。而且我收了offer把之前别的都拒掉了。
后来我不想放弃，又前后跟他们联络。我的朋友建议我说一般这种情况也可以找到签e-
verify的vendor，先签contract，等到第二年再变成fulltime，之类的，各种都想了，
他们都说不行。
我不死心，给当时面的组里一个人写信，那个人很热心，说他们组里很想让我来，还帮
我问了头和HR，希望能解决。但最后还是HR跟我联系，说不行，身份无法解决。
