Uber is an undeniably shitty deal for drivers. The Uber business model is
brilliant--from Uber's perspective, that is. Basically you dump all the
capital costs, and all the economic and personal-security risk onto the
driver, while skimming off a massive chunk of the revenues. The only value
Uber provides is (1) a glorified taxi-dispatcher service, and (2) fare
collection on behalf of the driver. Otherwise, that's it.
It's fashionable to say how economically wonderful it is that Uber has

Where is this 70% coming from? "Laffer Curve" is disputable, and was on a
tissue paper. Increasing tax rate would reduce economical expansion, while
reducing tax rate would do the opposite. That is, tax increase would
reduce your tax base, while tax reduction would increase your tax base,
and it can be unlimited.
Plus, big chunk of tax revenue is for all those entitlement spendings, if
they are limited, reduced and suppressed, increasing tax revenue becomes
less relevant.
