After my family's Yellow Stone trip got cancelled at last minute, I had one
week of vacation time that I could use to climb but nobody to climb with, so
I got this crazy idea of solo climbing all 14ers in Elk range in Colorado.
Day 1: Castle
An easy peak and a good warm up hike for me so I could get a chance to
acclimatize. Met someone on the summit who told me he did Maroon Group grand
slam (Maroon Bell traverse + Pyramid) under 8 hours last year. Amazing.
Good weather on the hike but rain star...

from Rock&Ice
Written by Andrew Bisharat
There’s nothing better than going on a climbing trip. The opportunity to
travel is the greatest perk in any climber’s life. There is climbing in
every country on earth … just point to some place on the globe, and if you
’re a climber you automatically have a reason to go there. Think about it.
It’s pretty cool. (No, seriously, think about it. See? Pretty cool.)
I’d say 10 days is the minimum amount of time for a climbing trip to be “
worth it,” though I’v...

warm up 5.6;
lead了一个5.8,
follow了两个5.8;
5.9(this one is 180-feet long; the
ascend is sing pitch, but the descend is three picthes from the other side)

I also like the book "more climbing anchors"
直接off belay,拿sling往一个flake上面一搭,两三下就on belay了。

No, sport climbing is where you focus on climbing skills rather than setting
pros. Taking and falling are a major part of the deal, of course when it's
safe to do so. Good climbers take and fall all the time. If you read books
like How to Climb 5.12 or Self Coached Climbers, you'll see they all spend
time explaining taking and falling.

I went to an indoor rock climbing gym did my very first time climbing
yesterday in Beaverton. It was very fun and nice work out. Anyone here is
willing to try it? We can partner up for toproping climbing (the one using
rops and harness). Let me know..:)
p.s. sorry can not type chinese at work.

Rainier/Hood/Baker/Adam:

It's not rock climb.

Before this year, I attemped Rainier three times with two success summits.
In the one failed attempt, we had blizzard condition and were forced to turn
around. From these climbs, I had the theory that Rainier (the two easy
routes, DC and Emmons) should not be climbed in two days. It should be
either in a one-day hard push or relaxed three-day stroll. With two-day
climb, one has to carry heavy packs to camp, and with just a few hours of
rest and sleep, get up again to go for summit bid. It seems

Last year, some friends on this board asked if I can lead a climb to Mt. St.
Helens. I promised to do this. Now, it is time to work out the plan.
For those who want to be on this climb, please read this post carefully,
reply this message, leave your email address, also indicate which weekend
you will be available (Apr. 26-27 or May. 3-4). The group size will be
limited to 8 climbers. Those who expressed strong will previously have
higher priority. If few people can make this climb, or if the wea

Luckily Mike was looking for a partner and we paired up today. He is one of
those people who leads 5.11 trad, but for sports he doesn't do much better
than me. What's more, he only leads. TR is not what he prefers.
After working on some V2 bouldering, I led a 5.9+, then a 5.10 with two
takes (not bad), then a 5.9+. All overhang. Leading 5.9 is easy, whereas 5.

You've been climbing in Red? You're all over the places...
I camp in the Miguels' almost every time. Pizza is high in calories. Perfect
after climbing. Love it.
Everybody miss the Red and the Miguels after they move away. Mind comeing
back and climb some day?

Cool. Once I met a guy who claims that he did tones of cool climbs all over
the world, and he even gave me some suggestions on my next climbing trip to
Australia. After we set up a toprope, he asked whether he can TR it.
He started complaining and cursing and $#(*@) about the recent rain that
made the rock slippery, and spent half of the time hanging-dog and discribe
how he fly through this route a hundred tims before, plus how much he loves
climb but just don't like leading!!
It took him a frak

First climb this season, finally! Can’t expect better weather, but got a
very hard time driving through the 40-mile Snoqualmie pass. We only had 5
and half hours climbing there. Climb with Michael and Grey.
1. Unknown route, TR. When we arrived, all popular routes were taken, so we
had no choice. Don’t have a guide book, so don’t know what it is. But it
is easy to recognize, since it is the only sport route on the entire wall
(others are all trad) and it is relatively short. We don’t know the gr
