式的，用department letterhead的那种。
一是应该表示感谢，所谓礼多人不怪。二是那些老师在年度汇报的时候，可以用你的感
谢信来own他们的教学上的一些extra teaching credits。这些老教授没什么，但对还
没有tenured的教授，还是有点好处的。
以后也互相多多帮忙，给自己增加一些 collegiality的credit，对自己和大家都好！ |

国家的FMLA是12个星期的产假，无薪水，
这个不make sense, 因为理疗保险之类的东东不好办。
但是很多学校都有collegial support,
比如让你教到预产期前，剩下的让同事代教。
有的学校福利好，直接给一个学期的产假，
最差的，可以和学校谈论banking courses,
就是休一个学期, teaching release,
然后把欠下的课将来一点一点还清。
和系主任谈的时候，先询问他学校和系里的政策，
以前的例子，听起来不太好的话 ，再讲你的想法，
探讨一下可行性。

作热情的帖子，一个Aggressive vs. Assertive 的回帖让我觉得深受启发。总结一下
，学术界形形色色的人格大概有四种：
Submissive：马屁精和应声虫。这是长期被洗脑，完全对自我个体需要无视的一种表现
，认为只有依附他人才有自己的立足之地。
Passive-aggressive: 遇事违心应承，事后憎恨抱怨。这些人一般也有能力，但是没
有冒险精神。也许这只是你人生的一段 Dark age。 假以时日，不破则立。
Assertive：以自我的well-being为中心，同时对他人的需要和发展sensible and
considerate。举个例子，王菲就是 Assertive 一个很好的例子，林志玲也算吧。这种
