Just read how Russia built second pipeline to China and no longer using
dollars , but petro yuans and rubles. We can no longer simply use threat of
sanctions and tariffs. We can negotiate but must treat our peers, even those
who see the world differently, as participants or we will fail.

我的这个proposal提了两个research task,大概六四开吧.第一个(占60%)把我以前发在
top conference和top journal上的一个idea和模型进行了拓展,去掉了原来假设的一些
关键条件(比如像independence between variables, pure strategy, non-collusion
等等),提出研究更general和与实际应用更贴近的models.新的研究要比我已有的工作要
challenging得多,内容也丰富得多.同时,根据我以前无数被据的经验,我的第二个
research task 提出了一个全新的idea,对这个idea下建议的问题进行了初步的
formulation并描述了可能解决这个问题的基本方法(没有具体的解法,因为还不清楚该

Mine is free standing. In our area, attached deck requires addition fee for
soil test so why bother.
You can embed the post into the concrete or build concrete post with rebar
inside like mine:
Yes, I do it on site, it will be too heavy. In addition, you may find it be
difficult to put the joice in later on because it is hard to adjust parallel.

i don't think i can do it myself (not handy).
basically you need to:
1) level the ground as a flat land, remove grass/trash/whatever;
2) put a layer of concrete on top of it;
3) put some sand on top of concrete;
4) lay your bricks on top of sand;
5) strengthen/fix borders in case later it will lose shape.
i'm planning to buy the materials by myself according to the specs they give
me and let them do the dirty work.

Here is how I did it.
1. Glue down 1/2" plywood on conrete;
2. Further secure the 1/2" plywood using conrete screws (drill holes on
concrete first, this took the most time, plywood has tension and glue may
fail over time, these conrete screws maybe the only thing to hold down the
floor eventually);
3. Put down felt-paper on plywood to keep moisture down;
4. Nail solid-hardwood floor onto plywood.

车道或是人行道 雪铲的再干净
还是会有残留的雪 白天气温升高溶化成水
晚上气温降低就会结冰
车道清理的完全干净 还是可能被车道或是人行道
旁边的雪堆给污染
车道或是人行道结冰 很容易滑倒受伤的
美国常见的de-ice (ice-melt)盐
有rock salt,calcium chloride and magnesium chloride,
纯的或是混合物
一般说rock salt 会伤车道 是因为rock salt到 0度F 就会结冰
雪溶成水以后会渗到车道里面去 如果气温到了0F以下
盐水结冰 就会把车道涨坏 在美国北部常见
中南部冬天没有这样冷 就没有关系
calcium chloride 或是magnesium chloride 溶解到水里面时候
会放热 可以帮助雪溶化
它们的水溶液结冰的温度比0度F低 所以渗到车道里面以后
结冰的机会变小 所以大家说比较不伤车道
其实只要asphalt driveway有定期 seal

this and have to live at this location, you can use some shielding for your
house, lead and steel works well, but are costly. The best cost effective
way is to build your house with concrete (icf or sip is the most common). 10
inch thick concrete along with triple pane windows made with leaded glass
should do just fine. |

very easy once you figure out what to do. A concrete truck stop by every 1/
2 hour, he rented the pump truck for the whole day. All you need to do is
send a vibrator up and down after concrete is poured in. In order to prevent
any crack in the future, we used 18000 psi super crete for the foundation.

from concrete company, just specify what kind of mix you want. Renting pump
truck is expensive, so try to finish in one day. Also make sure they don't
pump too fast, slow is better.
120K for a large house because owner took time off and use his own labor.

ICF house will even stustain hurricane forced wind loads of categrory 5 with
over 156 mph.
Enormous strength in any kind of construction can be realized when the
entire construction is solid in terms of high grade concrete and steel. The

I usually use sprinker on it for 5 to 7 days to keep it wet if does not rain.
Concrete can cure under water, so you got the perfect weather going for you.
Just make sure it is not too cold when you pour, it need to at least 40 F, I
prefer 50 and above myself. |

of dirt) and freeze line, digging 2 to 3 feet should be enough. You can rent
a auger to dig the hole, put the post in (make sure it is vertical, pour
concrete, recheck quickly to make sure it is still in right position and
vertical), you may or may not need a support structure to hold it in place (
kind of depend on how thick your concrete was) |

是太阳光，这种颜色随着紫外线沉淀的是一次性不可逆转的。基本上头六个月到十二个
月就会稳定。光照不到的地方如果以后再受光照，颜色会和先前受过光照基本一样（六
个月到十二个月后）。
选择光感度大的是因为颜色浅，即使受过光照以后。
还是不怎么明白，因为有些地方（远离窗户的）永远都照不到太阳光，是不是将来就是
能看出来颜色浅一些？挑选木头颜色时是不是就应该选比自己喜欢的颜色稍微淡一些的
，因为光照后会加深？
那个叫Gloss，我选的是Semi-Gloss，正适合我们。现在都买Prefinished的，地板在厂
家Prefinished的会比你自己在家里Finished的要好的多。
ok，我就打算买prefinished的了，不过prefenished铺上后中间有缝隙，因该没问题吧？
德州好像都是Concrete Slab。只有Glue Down和Float，除非在二层可以Nail。Glue
Down的牢实，踩起来像地板，floating的踩起来会有声音，因为下面有空隙。
是不是concrete（一层地面）只能glue down，木头的（二层地面）只能float，其实根
本不用挑选？

For a small job, I usually notify the driver, they will dump the left over
fresh concrete in the mixer on the way back from a job site. $20 for them,
save me the hassle of mixing myself, I build one section at a time, so this
is perfect. I build a lot of side walk that way at 2 to 3 cubic yard at a
time. The bad part is color does not match perfectly, but I can live with
that. |

包括几个closet, 我们也想换掉算了。找了几个contractor来估价， 每个contractor
对于怎么装地板都说法不一， 我们现在也很糊涂了。
首先，是在concrete上装实木地板的问题， 一个contractor坚决要glue down,说没有
任何必要用plywood， 而且用了以后地板会比外面的地砖高好些。 另一个强烈推荐
plywood underneath,说concrete不能阻止moisture, 如果装了plywood要好一些。 我
们在德州中部，房子也不在flood zone，不过常识确实是水泥地比较潮。 到底谁说的
有道理呢？
其次，是closet的问题， 几个closet都和地砖相连。但几个个contractor都说要装地
板，比较好看（我们买不到一模一样的地砖了）， 还说说地砖labor cost比较高，就
算材料便宜，最后也差不多。但他们又说要把门锯掉一点。我觉得比较奇怪的是，原来
的地砖怎么装的，现在也怎么装好了，应该不会有高度差呀， 为什么要据门呢？

防水的有很多选择，你自己搜索，也可以用dri-core，delta-fl和platon，dri-core最
贵，但是可以直接做hardwood的subfloor，delta-fl和platon上面要plywood或者OSB，
platon最便宜，OSB也比plywood便宜。
直接glue down完全是错误的，你可以搜索google上面how to install hardwood floor
on concrete.
要么你装floating engineering floor，可以省事。
地砖要敲掉吧？然后下面装subfloor然后hardwood，当然就比原来高一点了。 |

我找了一个foundation contractor来检查我要买的房子。起因是因为我发现crawl
space里房子西南边有一个柱子已经几乎完全离开pier了。这个柱子上面是通向卧室的hallway,这可能直接导致了两个卧室门上面的裂缝。门上面的裂缝倒是不宽，以前一直以为只是cosmetic problem. 这个柱子旁边一根也有1/2离开pier了。
检查的结果说西南边沉降了1.1inch，北边沉降了1.2inch，总共有5个柱子有调整位置
。建议lift，要花15000刀。
报告里一开始没提concrete上有没有裂缝，我后来又问了一下，回复说concrete有一个地
方有surface crack，说lift以后可能就close了。
这个房子40年了，agent说这个年纪的房子大小有这种问题，尤其在湾区。这个房子 |

(1). $2,300 for 600 1"x6"x6' western red cedar boards plus delivery. (I spent a lot of time comparing the prices between lumber stores. Should have saved $800 if having the boards ordered from HD, but their boards are usually BAD.)
(2). $1,300 for posts/rails/concrete mix/delivery from lowes. (Used the 10% off coupon).
