没有通过第一轮
其中一个进入了COUNCIL REVIEW
但是老板没告诉我
是哪个项目进入COUNCIL ROUND
所以面临重新找工作的决定

CARMEL VALLEY — A developer’s proposal to build a commercial and social
hub for the community of Pacific Highlands ranch won City Council approval
Tuesday.
The city’s Planning Commission unanimously approved the project in October,
but resident Dean Dubey appealed the decision to the council. He complained
about the traffic congestion the project would cause. |

的那块空地建SENIOR LIVING。
不过，SAN MATEO SCHOOL DISTRICT里的，那个支持FOSTER CITY高中的，就选上了。另
外，两个现任的CITY COUNCIL 发起的提案W，希望能延长CITY COUNCIL 两届的任期的
提案没有通过。这个提案实际就上这两个COUNCIL想在任期内把那块空地彻底解决，建
成SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITY。
可见，现在FOSTER CITY的VOTER中，老人的势力还是比较大的。
顺便说一下，据说因为这个real estate burst, 原来想建老人公寓的计划已经搁置下
来。所以，又给FOSTER CITY 建高中重新带来一线希望。但短期之内，是不可能解决的。
同时，当选与不当选，实际上只有180票的区别。看票数，总共有效的选票也就3000张
不到。这个时候，真是EVERY VOTE MAKE DIFFERENCE了。上次2007年的时候，也只差
300多票。

长 Gilbert Wong (此人是不是民主党？)就搅混水说John A. Pérez已经withdraw了
SCA 5，问是不是应该把这个特殊meeting的SCA 5议题拿掉？ 2个白人counciler回应说
： 目标已经没有了，还讨论什么？
Barry Chang，马上站住来，hold住说： 我读到的Perez 的statement是"H A L T",发
音是halt，哪里有withdraws的字眼？请继续讨论议题！
从整个会议的来，Barry的态度明确，purely stand for 华裔 （甚至可能给人有bias
的感觉）. 他够strong，够tough，hold his stand。我个人很喜欢Barry, 感觉他的
tough其实就是我们华裔在现阶段急需的leadership，而不是那些骑墙派的摇摆。
哪位知道的来说说，Cupertino市长是不是民主党人啊，他和Barry好像不是很对。可以

如果congress通过该提案，DC将在St. Patrick's Day开始发放结婚证。
在此之前，Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa和Vermont已经通过同性婚姻，New

一个国内的学生，说他在申请china scholarship council的奖学金，我就需要负责学
费，好像是说我如果提供录取邀请信，他就可以去申请csc的奖学金。学生的email里面
说 the title of assistant professor may not pass the China Scholarship
Council (CSC) selection. 意思是说，因为我是AP,所以csc可能不会批准奖学金。有
意思的是那个学生对我的email的呼吁也是dear assistant professor XX。

tor，还在很早期意向阶段，不知道最后能不能成，但是想问问应该重点靠近哪个，哪个
更牛，当然其实哪个都很牛了。 |
