当地时间2月11日，世界卫生组织（WHO）宣布将新型冠状病毒（2019-nCoV）感染引起
的疾病正式命名“COVID-19”。同日，国际病毒分类委员会声明，将引发疾病的新型冠
状病毒命名为“SARS-CoV-2”。
同一天内，不同机构分别宣布疾病及其病毒的名称，不少网友表示一头雾水，学界则表
现出赞同和反对的不同意见。
对于将疾病命名为COVID-19，但病毒（virus）名称为SARS-CoV-2（SARS冠状病毒2号，
SARS是Severe acute respiratory syndrom的缩写，即“严重急性呼吸综合征”，CoV
指冠状病毒），中国科学院武汉病毒研究所研究员石正丽告诉《知识分子》，她都不认
同，并表示“我们正提建议”。
中国疾控中心主任、中科院院士高福在接受《中国科学报》采访时称，“没有证实这是
（最终）结论命名，我也认为不妥。”他表示，建议中国病毒学会成立一个专家委员会
来讨论此事。

这些未知数中就包括预测它会不会成为全球传染病以及死亡率的两个关键因素：病毒人
传人到底多容易？感染者中有多少会出现致命性的严重症状。
死亡率很难准确计算。最初有些科学家说，Covid-19（新型冠状病毒）的危险度似乎低
于萨斯和中东呼吸综合症。单看确诊和死亡人数的比例，目前的数字确实不高。不过这
个数字可能很不可靠。
现阶段，拿死亡人数除以确诊人数得出死亡率是大约2%，但是这种做法过于简单。一、
成千上万的患者仍然在接受救治，结果未知；二、有多少症状较轻、未从备案的患者呢
？如果这个群体很大，那么死亡率会更低。
疫情爆发初期吹哨人曾受打压、疫区一度缺乏诊断设施、跟踪/登记患者和死亡人数的
准确程度、中国政府的信息透明度等原因都有可能影响死亡率的计算。
因此，目前很难说Covid-19（新型冠状病毒）到底多致命。
科学界现在和今后一段时间将密切关注的另外一个问题是，病毒是否会变异。目前看来
，病毒比较稳定。不过这并不排除未来变异的可能性。
