鉴于我们长大的那个年代的中国，社会结构比较简单纯粹，“朝为田舍郎、暮登天子堂
”基本属实，精英的定义基本上就是（高考）成绩决定。可以说一个线性社会。
而美国社会和当代的中国社会完全不是那么一回事了。除了自己聪明，curriculum成绩
好以外，同等甚至更加重要的是excurricular activity：leadership,social
activities。这里的名堂就多了，情商，人际交往圈十分重要。
你女儿按照你的思路发展的话，在美国混个upper-middle class的professional肯定没
有问题，当然这已经算是美国社会的精英了。但是要更上一层了，进入真正的上流社会
或者初创自己的公司或者在政治/公共领域有发展，光成绩、业务好就不够了。
例子可以见趙錫成对于子女（包括赵小兰，美帝现任交通部长、共和党党魁的妻子）的
教育。这种是美国社会一流的精英。 |
