警方由6月至今發射逾萬枚催淚彈，近月更開始使用國產催淚彈，惟國產催淚彈的成分
一直沒有公開，公眾擔憂會否對人體健康造成影響。由一群科學碩士及博士生組成的「
香城教育電視」科學團隊，化驗了中國製及美國製的催淚彈，並發表報告，發現中國製
發射型催淚彈彈殼的CS殘留物，較美國製的少，而手擲式催淚彈彈殼更驗不到有CS殘留
，形容結果是「出乎意料」。團隊又指，雖然化驗結果顯示中國製催淚彈CS濃度較美國
製的為低，但令人不適的程度與美國製的相若，擔心是否代表當中還有尚未發現的不知
名化合物。
