decisions. And the problem is that the majority of people let it happen. It
comes after years of brainwashing about unfettered capitalism and rugged
individualism. The former creates winners and losers with the wealthiest
always winning and the latter enables the wealthy to divide and conquer
individuals.

Maybe too old, but here it goes:
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten
comes to $100…
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like
this…
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7..
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do..
The ten men drank in the bar every day... 阅读全帖

Villanova political science professor, Lara Brown, has been telling me for
over a year that the race would be a dead heat, 47% to 47% on November 1st–
with victory going to the party that gets out the greatest numbers of its

likely to rise again next year, too.
But for the 34-year-old, the expected growth in sale... 阅读全帖

At Tuesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the bipartisan “Gang of
Eight” immigration bill, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned Department of
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano on whether she actually read
the bill she was testifying about before her appearance at the hearing.
With Napolitano having to focus most of her attention on the terrorist
attacks in Boston, Cruz wondered where she found the time to read the
legislation. She said she did read the bill, but Cruz joked that mu... 阅读全帖

来自主题: USANews版 - What is going on in Iraq and why?
An al-Qaida breakaway group, apparently backed by other Sunni groups and
fighters, has seized a large section of northern Iraq after previously
taking much of northeastern Syria with an eye toward establishing an Islamic
state straddling the two countries. The situation on the ground is changing
rapidly, but some patterns and explanations are now emerging:
Q: WHY IS THIS HAPPENING NOW?
A: The group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, is taking advantage
of two trends: growing discontent a... 阅读全帖
