Big oil company is good but the problem is that it's not energetic. People
stay there for too long and most of them stay for the whole career. You must
have already seen many old people in oil company during your interview. So
the opportunity of promotion is very limited.

两个offer：硅谷的硅工（Oracle）和Houston一家大石油公司的geologist职位，pay的
一样，不
是主要考虑因素，尽管税在加州高一点，但是都足够花了。主要是考虑将来的发展。
houston的职位就
是很四平八稳，不会有大的起伏，做的东西也和自己的research相关，税交的也少。
Oracle的职位就
很不一样了，去了估计是做程序员，从写程序做起，跟cs出身的比没什么优势，要从头
学起，好处就是
那边机会比较多，将来自己做或者跟别人做都有很多的机会，又或者可以在那里写两年
code然后去做
quant因为本人数学背景。朋友都劝我呆在houston，但是总是觉得做geologist会越走
路越窄。实在

amfgl的中的两个onsite 在即， 一直觉得自己不笨，算法很来势，可今天看了网上的题库，都
快哭出来了。没几个会的， 更别提在5分钟内做出来了。感觉自己的脑子，已近被
wired成 EE了， 什么变换，去燥，自适应。。。什么问题都能很有得心应手， 但一碰
到permutation, sort, heap, tree, 一点思路都没有，绝对一个低智商的学生。
数学， 信号处理多学了没用， 最重要的就是那门离散数学只当了选修， 编译原理没
有深入。

的。最近三个月内，我master和另外一个伊朗phd都很顺利的找到工作了。归结原因我
觉得 口语能力和社交能力是非常重要的。
那个伊朗学生平时相当social 跟美国人各种party，踢足球，各种运动，人很外向，口
语也是相当厉害，基本听不出外国人口音，不过人男朋友是美国人。我的口语说不上太
厉害，但是自我感觉没任何障碍，平时跟系里面的各种学生中印美都聊的来，就是那种
一点不排斥跟别人用英语交流的类,这些聊天不仅提高英语口语还锻炼跟陌生人谈话能
力，social 吧。
在我长达三天的史无前例的onsite interview上，我觉得这种比较积极的谈话能力找话
题的能力实在太重要了，因为早中晚餐都是公司的人陪同，必须无话不谈啊，公司最后
也说了我很passionate，energetic。那个伊朗学生也是同样的感想，基本要跟人无话
不谈，所以平时的积累是很重要的。
就是想跟大家分享下这点心得，engineering 学生平时努力做实验讨好老板的同时，也
要多和别人交流，讲讲话，解解闷，何乐不为。 |

本科主要学VLSI，master到现在学过C/C++, 算法，Database, Computer Architecture
, HTML/CSS/jQuery，Data Mining, python和java都只会一点。因为自己基础不太行，
对这些组的描述都看的云里雾里的，所以想请教一下选组的建议。主要还是希望自己做
的东西能有点前景，将来还是有跳去更好的公司比如google, MS, FB的想法，所以请大
家能不能从这个角度出发给选组提点建议。本人自己没有什么特别的喜好，对编程的东
西都比较喜欢，比较想做backend的东西。

包括谷歌，Uber,苹果，百度，乐视，各大汽车商等都跻身自动驾驶的研发，其中关键
的一环是实时高精地图，目前只有很少的几家公司有能力去做，包括谷歌和HERE。HERE
