ls的不好意思我好几天没来，今天才看到你的回复。
我大概一年以前开始有转IP的想法，当时跟我的老板聊了一下，老板觉得虽然这是一个很多人都不考虑的option,如果我感兴趣，值得一试。他建议我接触一下这方面的知识，毕竟有兴趣才有动力。我于是春季学期跑到法学院去旁听了一门patent law。上课基本上就是在讨论cases,讲USC35。刚开学的时候我还跟得上，到后来因为我既没有复习,也没有读case,对property law也根本没概念，就只是听个热闹而已。Anyway，一个学期下来，我觉得做patent law里面对于细节的要求很多,跟我自己的性格很合拍，虽然讨论繁琐，reading也很多，我还是很感兴趣的，所以就决定了这个career option.
秋季学期的时候我又跑到商学院去旁听了一门basic business law toward technologies的课程，学了一点最基本的法律知识，明白了其实专利申请只是IP里面很小的一部分，IP management是个包容了pat... 阅读全帖 |

1. ALL GP or IP firms have someone who can speak Chinese (or dialects
thereof)
Just check their web-sites. Time is long gone when your Chinese language
skill can be such a plus that all things being equal, a firm would prefer a
native Chinese speaker.
2. There has been a huge flux of ppl with Sci. & Engr. PhD entering patent
law.

刚开始工作一直很忙，现在终于有点时间了，把面试经历写下来，算是报答买买提网友
在我找工作时期的鼓励和帮助。
我是ME的major，phd做的是MSE的很基础的研究，所以找industry的工作面临两大难点
：一个是找ME的工作还是MSE的工作，二是怎么找：找ME的把我专业知识太少且没有美
国工作实习经历；找MSE的把我做得太基础没什么公司有职位. 后来决定重点找ME的，
但也关注MSE的。中间ME的面试有数个，但都不得善终。最终这个工作是MSE的。
在monster/cb上post resume （ME/MSE的都有）,被recruter联系。很幸运的得知对方
公司希望找MSE并且对我所作的研究很感兴趣。确定电面。

可，你就会被promote

写这篇的主要目的不是为了面经而是吐槽，大家看看乐乐就好 ：）
先说说我的背景
02年毕业，无锡轻工大学，学得不是IE而是电子信息，毕业后进了希捷，阴差阳错的做
了IE,结果一做就是4年（俗话说得好，女怕嫁错郎男怕入错行）而且做得也不差以至于
辞职前总经理出面想留下我只是我没干，然后去了成都intel，去了没多久作为种子发
展对象又转战英特尔哥斯达黎加分部（现在没了，可惜了，CR风景实在太太太漂亮了）
工作了两年（NPI IE，还是IE)，回国后继续做IE，培训出5个新人NPI IE（坑了5个啊
。。。），3年后去了美国封装测试研发中心干了1年（还是IE)，回国后又继续做LRP
IE，直到15年实在不想做了，拿了大约一年工资的离职金去回家happy了。到此为止我
的IE生涯有13年，期间几乎把所有的IE职能做了个遍，虽然不敢说自己是大牛但好歹也
算是老鸟一只
接下来说面试了：
时间到了16年，我也玩了一年了估摸着该收心了，于是就在网上随便投简历玩
结果有天早上起床突然看见N个未接电话，看样子不像垃圾电话（垃圾电话一般没人接

发帖数: 61 | 29 不要以为你就不是误解. 这里有两种成本: hourly wage rate, hourly cost to
company. 这两种成本工会成员都比非工会成员(日车厂). 记者常常乱用数据来夸大其
词, 但是你现在也在这么做.
Overall hourly cost Big3/Jap maybe about $68/up to $50
Hourly wage Big3/Jap maybe about $28/$14-25
注意日本厂没有工会, 他们工人工资各个厂不同. 一般比当地工资水平大出一截. 但他
们去的都是工资水平底的地方. (最近几个厂当地工资~$9/hour)
注意新工人没几个. 都是老工人. 要不工会通票这么过的.
工会不是弱势力. 工会事实上是最强的一方(工会/top exec/非工会成员,主要是engr).
CEO为了自己的利益不愿也不能(股份制的弊端)得罪工会, 相反还要讨好他们. 你知道
job bank哪来的么, 是GM提出来的. 不是工会的发明.
工会工人被保护到了一个无法无天的地步. 你想想如果你不可能被开除你为什么好好上
班.

CMMI又是其中比较惨的一个，engr里面的ECCS稍微好一些。看看这个funding rate还是
有用，看看能不能搞一下交叉学科，往那些天文地质什么的program去混混。

Questions:
1) Is it possible for them to support H1B and EB1B green card?
2) Is relocation typically covered?
3) How much salary to ask for? (I have a PhD in Che Engr with three years
work experiences...)
just want to support my family (my wife and two daughters).
4) what is the career development after that position? (this is a pre

graduates in sic & engr, I guess all these schools rely on international
students heavily. |

BTW, just to share my two cents: don't negotiate on the first phone. Also,
don't negotiate unless you can justify very well since the package (at least
in my college/field (ENGR)) is provided by the college during the "request
for search" process. Not much space; and it takes lots of processes even you
are very strong and the Dept is willing to fight for you. |
