罗斯福岛USPS邮寄人员失职行为令人发指，寄国际包裹到中国，说得是要tracking,要
快些，个老不要脸的老不死的TM给我偷偷用first class mail，还跟我保证一周到，有
tracking. 个老不要脸老不死的我诅咒你出门被车撞死早点死！我当时忙着有别的事，
只想着去邮局寄最省事最保险，听他这么一说也就没有仔细看，价格也不便宜，出了门
回了家上网一查我傻了，first class mail international, 个老不要脸的老不死的我
咒你子女全部出门被车撞死！！
没办法跟踪，没有任何保险，也没办法理赔，最快再过一两个星期，几个月半年也是正
常，也可能就丢了也无从得知。只有一个海关报单号 LC813880897US， 都6天了USPS

这什么情况？一边买家催着退款，一边又把状态改成去UPS直接PICK UP!!!

1。学校拨款。
2。系里公用资金。
3。服务收费
你可以直接问这个职业稳定性的问题。在我印象里，大部分core facility其实很稳定
的，因为大家都需要他们的服务，如果关掉了会影响到很多人。但是，某些夕阳黄昏的
facility 可能关了也没有人理睬。比方说以前我所在的学校居然曾经有一个Edman
protein sequencing core facility。后来顺理成章的就被关掉了。
Clinical AP 可以提升成Clinical Associate P, and Clinical P. 但都是非tenure
track 的。 |

发帖数: 403 | 41 拿到了一个facility staff的interview机会，对方发过来流程是45min的seminar
presentation，跟search committee interview，然后参观facility lab，跟Faculty
和grad student谈。关于presentation他们简单的提到就是讲一下有哪些analytical
chemistry skill，用过哪些仪器等。
先说一下我的背景，是做仪器分析的，对方这个地方其实是环境/土壤等相关学科的一
个中心，所以我假定老师们对于分析仪器并不是特别的精通。那问题来了，这个
presentation要怎么准备，我觉得讲的浅了怕对方觉得自己没实力，讲得太深了又怕枯
燥乏味。
另外面试的话，我猜想专业的问题可能不会太多，会有很多behavior question吧。我
需要在跟comittee谈的时候注意哪些。我目前的想法是facility就是给老师和学生服务
的地方，定位好自己的角色，维护好仪器的正常运转，大概就是这些吧。请各位有经验
的老师们帮忙参谋一下。 |

foundry 6个facilities平均每一个staff scientist一年管20-30个user projects。
为什么不是真pi？问问那里的HR officer就知道了，Berkeley lab里的真PI是faculty
scientists (也就是operating university's faculty)。Facility scientists除非拿
到很多funding去付自己至少50%的工资，否则没有机会做独立的工作。认识一个
molecular foundry的牛scientist，拿了两个R01，有自己的postdoc，还是觉得不自由
，正在准备跳到学校。
Facility scientists 没什么不好，工资不错，如果能过career (与tenure类似)，也
很稳定。

的人做到了，其他80%的人都死在医院和Nursing home里。
最近因为一些原因，我有机会去过几家养老院, 现在谈谈我的感受。
Nursing home：
美国的Nursing home分为三种：Intermediate care facility (ICF)，Assisted
living facility (ALF)，Skilled nursing facility (SNF)。我想我三个都去过，前
两者是自己付费，最后一个是Medicare, Medicaid付大头。Nursing home，价格从3千
到6千美元每月不等（当然还有更高的），月费年年涨，据说进去的时候还要缴纳一笔
不菲的押金。
美国的Nursing home都分布于城市的各个角落，从外表看上去就像Apartment complex
似的。不过里面的环境还是不错的，花花草草，比较安静，比一般的apartment要好。
进到里面，条件好一点的给人的感觉像Hotel, 条件差一点的感觉就完全是医院。有
