舰（FF,fast frigate），主要任务是舰队防空反潜扫雷水面作战和支持近海作战。
洛克希德马丁本来要独吞这个级别的军舰制造，后来美军要求2家公司各自拿出方案建
造。
最后洛克希德和澳大利亚的阿特德公司平分了26艘军舰订单。
2种快速护卫舰型号分别是自由级（洛克希德)和独立级(阿特德)。
自由级满载排水量3500吨，最高航速47节。独立级满载排水量3100吨，最高航速44节。
2种护卫舰的主机是2台燃气轮机（单台输出功率30-36MW)，比中国052D驱逐舰2台燃气
轮机单台输出功率28MW还要高。
这些快速护卫舰拥有较大的飞行甲板，未来海军的F-35战斗机也可能配备。

：解析乔治王时代的帝国海军》。在那本书里，Rodger仔细比较了英国海军的作战效率
。先说伤亡情况。比如说，英法七年战争（1756-1763）中，交战双方舰队规模差不多
。双方交手十次，英国海军死伤195人，法国海军死伤1365人，差不多是7倍。1801年哥
本哈根战斗中，英国海军损失1000人（这么巧？），可怜的丹麦人，整个海军全灰飞烟
灭，死了两千，还有3500人被俘虏。这样说吧，从1793到1805一共发生六次大规模的海
战，英国人就死伤5749（数字真精确）人，相比而言，他们的对手死伤16313人，还有
22657人被俘。
再说舰只的情况。拿破仑战争时期，从1793到1815年，小级别战舰（战舰级别问题见下
）如护卫舰（frigate）损失情况如下：和法国人打仗英国人就损失了区区17，其中被

四桅杆的schooner还是挺少见的，历史上多数都是二桅和三桅杆。在Aubrey-Maturin系
列里面，HMS Surprise的tender就是一条schooner，Ringle. Surprise是Frigate。
Schooner的一个主要特征是前桅杆比后面的桅杆低，而且所有的帆都是fore-and-after
rigged，这样顶风航行的时候的leeway少，快速，weatherly。
看见你的模型里面的clipper。这种船很晚才出现，当时蒸汽机已经逐渐占领市场了。
但是，巨大的风帆和高超的设计，使得clipper比早期的汽船要快，用于从美国和美国
之间的商品运输，从中国进口茶叶和瓷器，出口西洋参和貂皮到中国，用墨西哥鹰洋作
为货币。
船上的滑轮，航海术语称为block，如果叫做pulley就被人笑话了，呵呵……

East Indiaman有很多变化，从1600年开始。船上有些炮，但是因为主要是商船，所以
炮数没有军舰多，而且也没有足够的人手来开炮。
记得Aubrey-Maturin故事中，开始的一两本里面，Aubrey曾经在一艘East Indiaman上
当过乘客，Indiaman比起Frigate来，还是舒服不少。上面有很多passenger amenity……
Santa Maria是carrack，剩下的Pinta和Nina都是caravel。carrack太重，操纵不如
caravel方便灵活。结果果然挂掉了…… |

，包括所谓的a hero's journey那种类型的，例如《冰与火之歌》，有社会细节，管他
是否是虚构的社会，有革命，有战争，有宫廷斗争（真正杀头掉脑袋，涉及九门提督和
禁卫军啥的宫廷斗争，而不是几个娘们勾心斗角，几十集不死一个人的那种），有
loyality，honor和betrayal，中间再加上一些爱情和奸情。
还有场面：海战是个plus，空战也行，飞机和飞龙都可以；broadside加上boarding
parties，frigate和manila galleons，pirates on the spanish main……
再有一些历史，虚构的或者实际的都行，银河帝国，罗马帝国，或者westeros就更好了

好几年前读过一本《The Imperial Cruise: A secret history of empire and war》
，讲述老罗斯福总统跟亚洲，特别是日本的渊源。上次读了《Shockwave》以后，在附
近的书架上看到了这本《Pacific Crucible》，就随便翻翻。
就是1941-1942年的太平洋战争，就是597页的hard cover，所以战事写得特别详细，大
量的original research，战斗过程，细节都写得详尽而生动，给人手不释卷的冲动。
虽然是详述的1941-1942年的战况，但是对于战争的起源，确实从十九世纪后期，世界
海军的巨大变革和日本的崛起开始阐述的，跟《The Imperial Cruise》倒是接起来了。
两届罗斯福总统，都是跟海军有着深厚的渊源。老罗斯福是近代美国海军的主要倡导者
，为了制衡日本在太平洋的势力，他力主开挖巴拿马隧道，不惜引发革命来达到这个目

I guess PLAN seems quite satisfied with the sensors on Sovremenny.
Top Plate + Front Dome + Band Stand might become the standard equipment for
