从2000年到2009年，美国科学和工程的女博士增加了一倍，接近50%，和男博士比例齐
平 （但在欧洲这个比例差异还蛮大的，见图1）。但在STEM（科学，技术，工程和数学
）大类内部，各学科女博士的比例差异很大，例如在分子物理和脑科学系有接近半数的
女博士，但这个比例在物理和计算机科学中不到20%。这种差异在社会科学和人文领域
同样如此：艺术史和心理学女博士的比例可以占到70%；但在经济系和哲学系，这个比
例不到35%。

我家两个女儿，老大是“学院派”产物，在她小时候我比较抵制 gendered
socialization, 所以孩子一直是短发，对迪斯尼公主的故事仅仅是知道而已，
完全不接触芭比娃娃。 孩子上过两个幼儿园（包括kindergarten) 都是大学的
附属幼儿园，lab school, 也很注重 non-gendered socialization, 给家长
还专门讲座介绍过芭比娃娃和变形金刚类玩具对小孩子都是 inappropriate的。
平时很多 field trips, 注重科学。所以我家老大到现在夏天从来不穿裙子，
对芭蕾没兴趣，很多男孩子喜欢的她都喜欢（pokemon, bakugan, transformers，
star wars etc）喜欢运动（足球，乒乓，排球），当然并不男性化，上小学后
一直留长发。
相比来说，老二彻头彻尾的opposite, 幼儿园是私立的，白人为主，公主芭比
接触很多，喜欢唱歌跳舞，喜欢粉色，喜欢dramatic play 穿各种裙子，戴各种

从我做起, 从现在做起! 我们还来得及反对SCA5. 目前, 加州众议院的80席中, 有55席
民主党, 25席共和党. 对这个法案SCA5的支持是党派分票, 所以我们只需要保证 2个以
上民主党议员勇敢地站出来, 投票反对, 我们就可以让法案胎死腹中. 现在我们可以做
的是写信给代表我们选区的加州众议员, 去他们的网站给他们写.

上面连结最上面有两个请愿投票, 有时间先去投票, 这两个网站都需要注册, 但是
Change.org和Whitehouse.gov是最常见的请愿网站, 将来一定该还有用到的机会, 花点
时间注册并不吃亏. 不過必須強調這兩個投票實際效果是零, 並不能解決問題, 其主要
功能就僅僅是壮大声势.
