温暖。这是一个华裔匿名家人的真实记叙。
近20年前，通过学校的Host Family Program 我和先生认识了一对儿美国夫妻，太太
Barbara和先生Wayne。称他们Baise先生或太太，显得生疏，叫名字又觉得太随便。刚
好他们的年龄和我们的父母很接近，在他们的提议下，我们高高兴兴地用“Dad”,“
Mom”来称呼他们。从此我们多了一家美国亲戚，没有婚姻血缘关系的extended family
。这家人让我们有机会对普通美国人的家庭有了最直观的认识，也让我思考很多东西。
在这里我写写Barbara的父母，Grandpa and Grandma。我和先生在两位老人的家里住了
9个月。这9个月老人家没有收我们的房租，但我们所受的祝福远远超过我们省下的金钱。

昨天在李志的帖子里灌水，说到乡村音乐，我说想系统的听听比较老的歌手，satas说
听自己喜欢的就好。他说得有道理呀。那说说我为什么喜欢听乡村乐好了。自来美国，
就一直生活在人烟稀少的地区，出门随便逛逛就是一两个小时没有人烟的高速路，收音
机里伴随的就是这个：

虽然我心里的place I belong不是西弗吉尼亚山妈妈，时常听听倒也聊解乡愁，跟我从

后来有机会听一些现场，发现比在旅途上听乡村乐更好的是在现场听。去年听Willie
Nelson的现场演出，中间几次被深深打动，其中一首就是这首Georgia on my mind。他
的口琴手Mickey Raphael更是技艺出神入化，现场几次为他的独奏响起掌声。。。

来，也没有通知ACAP，有一个是报了一家4口，结果都没来。另外有几个人没有报名就
去参加，让ACAP Administrator Alex很被动。今年是ACAP和另一个华人医生组织CAMS
合办的晚会，有近一千人参加，组织工作量很大，花得力气、金钱都不少。ACAP也一直

了小黑屋，因为14年已经来过了，签证是12月过期，但还是给了半年，说以后要过至少
一年才能来。14年累计是呆了超过半年的（当时我们不知道是累计计算的，以为每次按
时回去就好了），15年4月走的。这次递签杯具了，要面签。
我想签证官肯定问为什么来那么多次，每次呆那么久。就说旅游，去哪些地方，给一些
照片。因为我们平时上班，只能趁长周末带她旅游，所以要来那么多次，呆那么久。这
个合理吗
给这答案之后，如果签证官犹豫，还是不肯让过，可以说送我女儿回美国读书吗，并出
具学校receipt，证明不会带小孩，只是把小孩送回美国，就会回中国。知道提小孩不
好，但好像是旅游不通过之后的最后一搏。真的只需要把小孩带过来就好，已经6岁了
，都有AfterSchool。为什么爸妈自己不去接？妈妈暑假前送过来，已经用了一星期假
，不好再多请。爸爸也刚换工作一年不到，也不好请假。
谢谢了，都已经不报什么希望了。

nation. However, 以史为鉴 for a single average person/family is very

护照旅行证不多说了，护照邮局办的，旅行证芝加哥领事馆办的，亲们有啥问题我一定
知无不言。
事先说明俺的经验比较适合像俺这样的穷妈，因为我都是经济舱。我也没带宝宝的
stroller，因为我有一段国内航班，stroller要check-in掉算重量，所以就用了

韩亚：芝加哥-仁川-大连
回国韩亚因为要先跟婆婆一起回大连，此行目的之一，把娃带给老公的姥儿看看，老公
是姥儿一手带大的，老人家最近身体不太好。。婆婆之前已经买好了韩亚的往返，所以
我就只能一起喊呀。临时决定回国，提前3周订的票（11月初），顺利拿到婴儿座位和

出于尊重老人感受，那就不叫外公外婆，而使用一般受过教育的中文使用者明白的姥姥
姥爷，又或是不同于普通话爷爷奶奶的方言称呼，我觉得都是合理可行的
而不加区分的都叫爷爷奶奶，现实生活中的确会带来不便。
1、虽然双方老人在一起出现的可能性很小，但万一有这样的情况，爷爷奶奶究竟指代
谁？
2、双方老人都不在这边的情况，和小孩交谈中提到的爷爷奶奶究竟指代谁？
3、小孩今后和人交流，特别是和其他中国人小朋友交流，提到的爷爷奶奶究竟指代谁？
当然你可以在称呼前面加注，比如城里奶奶、乡里爷爷，这样有意思么？
而且和其他人交流时，即使加注，人又知道你说的是谁？
有人会说美国人都叫grandpa、grandma，我觉得入乡随俗也未尝不可。人家可以直接叫
长辈名
字，而且全称上是有区分的：maternal grandma/grandpa vs paternal grandma/
grandpa
小孩本来就在牙牙学语阶段，作为父母，为了某一方的一己之私，而带给小孩
confusion，说不定会进一步导致小孩自身华裔身份认同的confusion，值得吗？
