创世纪第一节里的“造天地”的“天地”是指 “heavens and the earth”，出埃及记

的注释。但是，注释就是注释，注释不是翻译，两者的表述要求大相径庭。注释的用词
通常口语化，但节日的名称通常就书面和文学化了。将注释当翻译往往会闹笑话。比如
，把“清明节”翻译成“Tomb-sweeping Day”。清明节包含扫墓内容，但是清明节的
主旨不是扫墓，而是缅怀先祖。扫墓只是清明节的注释而已。
2. 传统感念和词汇的翻译的另一个大忌就是选择性翻译，就是某一个概念内涵很丰富
，翻译者选择其中的某一个内涵以偏概全的翻译。比如，把“故宫”翻译成“The
Forbidden City”。“紫禁城”是包含对平常人禁行的意思，但不是仅仅行人禁行就完
了。紫禁城的“紫”的意思来源于人们对于神圣的等级的颜色区分。神圣最高的等级的
颜色是紫色，比如，紫阳真人。“红的发紫”的“紫”字也是人们在日常生活中对“紫
”字的理解。“紫禁”的意思就是不是“人” 禁，而是“紫” 禁。含有神圣的意思。
