博士老板不怎么肯说好话，以前给我申请资助的推荐信他给我看过，只有work hard 一
句正面的评价.。。。
给师兄们写的推荐信也都不好，弄得我有点怕。。。
我这个是industry job,before on-site,要填一个表给出3 reference，而且一栏要写
怎么认识的。
能不放主老板吗？
我还作了几个校外的项目，有两个senior 都很熟悉，还有一个co-advisor。我想找他
们正好凑齐3推荐信。
5个师兄们的经验都说，老板不怎么说好话，写的比较mean.他们还怀疑他们的几个学术
界工作，前面电话面试都很好，到了reference check就没有戏了，不知道是否和不说
好话的推荐信有关系。。。
如果不放主老板，不知道这样是否reasonable？

,除了base比College Hire要高一些（因为现在的base比较高），其他诸如Sign in
bonus和股票都比College Hire差不少；Negotiate了一下，象征地加了一些Sign in
bonus，但也是evenly split到两年。考虑头几年Amazon还没有年度bonus，朋友觉得这
个offer是鸡肋，准备拒之。
6,7年Industry的经验一点都不值钱？ 大家是不是有这种感觉？ |

我本科硕士是chem-/bio-engineering背景的，博士是pharmaceutical的，
以后想找个公司的工作。现在找postdoc有2个方向：一个是engineering的方
向，主要是环境相关的，分析小分子污染物。；另一个是偏生物的，做蛋白结晶，
机理，信号传导等方面的。
请问现在哪个方向比较容易去工业界发展呢？非常非常感谢！ |

我是美东工科学校化学phd，秋天就第五年了。做的方向偏无机材料合成和应用，但是
是一个多学科交叉的项目。因为各方面原因，现在的打算是毕业后进industry历练两到
三年，然后回国发展。想向版上的前辈们请教一下这样做的利弊。或者说，这种机会好
不好找，在这边工作两到三年后辞职回去或者公司派回国去的话，在国内发展会怎样呢？
现在一个建筑材料公司Owens Corning有一个项目，在美国培训一年，然后派回国去培
训一年，就常驻国内了。不知道大家觉得这种项目怎么样？

商开发衍生品什么的。但是老板自己完全是stat，不懂金融，他国内合作的一个人想跟
他读博，那个人目前在券商工作，老板也很中意他。
我跟老板说我想做finance，老板说他明年on leave，应该是回国搞那个项目去了吧，
可能不是很想带我玩。我也理解，我现在也不很懂金融，只修过些基本的FE的课。
现在另外一个AP，搞的是Dirichlet Process， 目前在申funding，跟gene有关的项目
，手里没人，去找我老板帮忙。我老板就推荐我过去弄。
下周一我，我老板，那个AP，要一起谈谈。我觉得我们三个坐一起我拒绝也不太好拒绝
了。我自己的职业打算是毕业找industry，不药厂，要么bank要么IT，做postdoc估计
没钱养老婆了。
所以现在情况是我老板手里没活给我做，他做finance要靠别人，我凑过去对他也没用
。那个Ap缺人（看他的CV，什么事情喜欢一个人做，paper都是一个人发，真的会带我

本人现在正在STEM-extension中，OPT明年11月份过期，一心想进industry。为了积攒
工作经验，现在正在一个公司做博后，是合约工，刚工作了几个月不到半年。因为公司
现在职位紧张，没有正式工的opening，已经知道不太可能有sponsor的可能，所以也在
想着找其他工作。理想情况先，如果明年四月份之前能找到工作，H1B抽签成功最好。
但是现在看来有一定风险。
请教大牛们，如果我在2016年4月份抽签后找到了工作，我可否用opt-cap-gap一直到
2017年4月份之前抽签呢？查了些资料，发现10月份如果递交h1b申请的话，似乎可以仍
旧工作。但是又发现opt的grace period只有60天。这个 cap-gap有点confusing。
我还想过别的可能性，就是再回学术界找一份H1B sponsor的职位，但是考虑到将来还
是想去indusry,如果没有绿卡，H1B转换似乎也是一件不太容易的事情。
我的专业是生物方向，现在做的也是生物方向的研发。
