发帖数: 146 | 1 首先感谢Dr.Chi 在百忙之中抽出时间来给我们做了一个很有益的IV讲座。
Dr.Chi从如何准备，interview中以及IV 后的主意事项等3个方面细述了他的经验和见
解。有同学已详细记录登载，我就不罗嗦了。
有几点令人印象十分深刻。
1） PS: 不同于刚毕业的AMG和小印度。绝大多CMG经历复杂，我们的PS着眼点不同，要
让人清楚地读懂你的经历和为什么你要申请这个专科。
2） LOR: 绝对不要用中性或任何负面措辞的信。Dr.Chi说得很在理，SCREENING是个
RULE OUT的过程，多数人的LOR都是夸赞的，除非PD 认识REFERENCE，否则不会太CARE
多么夸赞的内容。
3） INTERVIEW: 遇到interviewer，要见人说人话，见鬼说鬼话。这个有点难度，需要
临场观察，随机应变，LOL。唯有做好充分的前敌侦察准备，事先详细了解PROGRAM和
interviewer的详情。
总之一条，多换位思考，你就能找出答案。

发帖数: 125 | 5 周三参加了Dr. Wing's one-to-one Mock Interview，觉得收获蛮大的。因为一直不确
定自己准备的面试问题的答案是否足够好。LG虽然有面试人的经验，但是是金融方面的
。--后来通过和Dr. Wing的交谈，发现LG的有些建议其实是不适合resident的
interview的。
Dr. Wing因为是自己面试和参与选择resident的人选，所以经验很丰富。 她之前会要
求send in整个package, 会很仔细地看过。开始的20分钟是正式的mock interview, 即
使是on-line, 她也要求穿着正式。之后，她很尖锐的指出了我的回答问题的方式和内
容存在的问题，指导如何在我自己的background上面个性化突出自己的优点。也给了很
中肯的建议关于自己最大的弱点（GAP)的回答。
感觉Dr. Wing的建议很实在。---当然，本人没有参加过别的mock interview，所以不
知道其他是怎样的。申请住院医的过程艰辛大家都是知道的，在争取到了很不容易的IV

asked me the most common questions during the interview, and then she helped
me to analyze the good and bad sides of my answers for each question. She
can look things in a different light and help me to modify the answers for
my specific case.

usually ask you why you want to go to their place. You have to convince them
that you like the location. They need to believe you have a "tie" to this

以前报名了Kaplan mock interview, 还有一些其他的tutor, 我觉得Dr Wing是最好的
一个。她很善于抓住整个application 优势。她非常了解我们中国人口语弱点，除了分
析问题，还帮我完整的解答有可能问到的问题。她的回答很朴实得体。她的mock
interview 1个小时多，其实内容很丰富, 而且举一反三。我相信只要能够掌握她所教
的，我的面试就会大大加分。所以我接下来不停的听录音，反复听，觉得收获非常大，

in a big university/medical center. Job interview is quite pleasant. As long
as your oral english is good, no problem with communication, most likely,
interview is very relaxing. Nobody will ask you technical terms or give you
an exam, so relax!

Two managers interviewed me, one is the UR group manger, and another is
medical group leader, both are capable and friendly. The interview included
two parts, the first part was normal RN interview, by asking questions about

昨天下午（2015年1月2日），开车到数十英里之外的一个电影院看了“The Interview
（刺杀金正恩）”。有关剧透的内容，网上多的是，我就不再赘述，这里只谈几点观看
的感受。
1. 电影有很多话语和内容是少儿不宜。不过，现在是网络时代，一个人从小到大，再
也不可能生活在一个“无菌”的环境里，不受各种不良社会恶习的侵袭。与其刻意回避
保护，装清纯，不如在引导如何面对方面下工夫，才能树立积极的、正面的言行举止，
以免无脑地去模仿低俗的东西。做一个文明人，要经得起百毒不侵，着实不容易。面对
低俗、“有毒”的东西，能否获得免疫，是个很艰难的挑战。不逃避，要敢于面对，学
会辨析，才能更好地保护好自己，不被人拉低而糟蹋了自己。

for a job would bother to show up, and they want to find out about the
market from you.
Also, explain to them that they should be prepared to tell other people
about their research, so why not turn this interview into one where you
are interviewing the students? They will appreciate your little "mock
interview".

medical school) interview. Two full days interview, and the presentation is
on the first day. There is a dinner with the director in NYC on the first
day after a break in hotel. Should I prepare three sets of suits for that (
first day, second day, and the dinner)? Should I be in suits for dinner too?
This is the first arranged interview. No experience...

，一般多久后会有 follow-up?
interview 结束时，chair 跟我说要take两周时间来决定on-campus finalist。 自我
感觉还不错，每个问题都充分准备了，整个过程有说有笑的，跟我想像的interview一
点都不一样，有两次那个chair好像笑得都忘了要问啥了。有一个问题的回答可能不好
，就是一个senior faculty问我大概需要什么多少startup funding 来购买设备时，我
说的那个数比市价少了将近一半。没当过PI, 不知道柴米油盐贵啊。也确实没想到他会
问这个问题。
最近还有另外一个，正在准备中。个人感觉，人肉search committee还是很重要的，多
挑他们爱听的讲，面试过程就会和谐很多。人嘛，哪都是一样的，faculty也不例外。 |

students invited for the first round of interview but put on waiting list
when schools making offers or they got interviews (2nd round) after the
schools found out that they would not get the candidates they wanted? If it
is the latter, I can still have some hope. Otherwise, I have to seriously
consider taking offers from schools that I never thought of going before.

As for your question, what I did is: just confirm the time and who

call who.
What the interviewer did in my case is asking the following questions:
1) Are you still available?
2) introduce the position: it is more about teaching than doing research
3) what classes have I taught before?
4) what questions do you have? (I asked 4 questions)

worst. So, the phone interview was not good, and she thought she needn't
consider this position any more.
But they contacted LD's referees for reference letters this afternoon. Is
this a good sign and means they do not deny my LD's candidacy completely, or
they will ask for references for every candidate they interviewed any way? |

by phone. the letters and phone interview performances will both be
considered in making the shortlist for on-site interviews.
as for the reply to the thank-you note, it's standard language before any
decision has been made.

1.Phone interview不通知我自己，而是通知我们系主任。要是系主任把这封邮件当垃
圾邮件扔掉就惨了。在我列的reference里面，系主任是我的几个推荐人中排在中间的
一个。他们发给系主任的邮件开始的称呼是Dear ***, ***是系主任的名字， 说感谢**
*(系主任）申请他们学校，邀请***(系主任)参加phone interview。最后又说期待和
XXX(XXX是我的名字交谈)。前后矛盾，非常搞笑。另外，在系主任把邮件转发给我之前
，他们一直没有给我发邮件说要和我phone interview。
2.迟到1小时18分钟。而且打过来也没说“sorry, I am late.”之类的。
PS:我的邮箱没有设自动转发到gmail,学校的邮件和gmail的邮件是分开的。 |

地址，电话，email。简历的最后一页是我的推荐人的联系方式。最后一个推荐人是一
个美国老头，和我的名字完全不一样。但是有两次学校都把phone interview通知的邮
件发给那个美国人，说邀请他参加phone interview。当然那个美国人都转发给我了。
我估计是search的人看完简历，就直接给在简历中出现的最后一个email发邮件了。 |

行踪不定，凡是search committee有空的时间，他们都不在校园。所以系主任安排先
