All I do are working, studying, exercising,sleeping and studying again. It
drives me crazy sometimes, but what can I do, I want to finish it so I can

lol, why don't you ask your friend again about all those emails like "oh, i
am getting into all these great programs but i cannot make my freaking mind"
stuff? if he still thinks that's a brilliant move i would be shocked to
death
i know a guy who have 1st author neuron paper along with a bunch of other
papers and get into all 9-10 programs he applied to but he just simply chose
to work with some AP guy in a descent (but not top) school because he
enjoyed "doing my little experiment"

Reminded me of the memory I want to erase. I came to the US in the 80s. I
was like the little match girl on the first Christmas Eve. The whole campus
was deserted. I was driving around aimlessly, peeping at the Christmas
trees inside the windows of some mansions. Talk about loneliness. At $2 a
minute, international calls were prohibitively expensive. After playing the
peeping Tom, I wanted to go to a peep show. Nothing was open. To be

older ages as an index of the field of maturity. Simply put, since t'Hooft
got his prize for what he did 30 yrs ago, that means this field is extremely
old; but Yang got his money in 30+, that means that field was extremely
young.

是要比白天有那么些内涵.. 喜欢在黑夜中走路 会关注自己的每一步有时候小心翼翼却

Billie Holiday唱的调调是Jazz啊,似乎少了点忧伤,多了点悠长。听了这么美的歌居
然自杀,就是个urban legend的YY吧,甚或太傻,听了生活更有亮色才对呀,死了岂不
是没机会再听了。
这歌配的很多歌词还是很中的, 比如片子里女主角德文唱本的英译:

电影结构很棒,是一个连环套,也符合了Pi这个名字,让大家绕进去出不来,再绕,再
想,于是还没绕出来。
先说说内涵层面。
人分为三个自己:ID,ego, superego。ID是人的基本生存需要,吃饱穿暖,性,安全感
,和动物一样,没有任何区别。superego是心中的上帝,给我们自己道德评判,什么是
可以的,什么是不可以的,superego有些是conscious的,有些是unconscious的。人的
一生,都在ego和superego之间摇摆挣扎,形成了一个ID,就是人在社会中的形态。
老虎是Pi的ID,就是他自己。那个坐在老虎旁边的Pi是他的superego,两个自我一直在
海上制衡。
所以,当第二个故事上来的时候,你会用第一个故事再去理解一遍:他当时是怎么经历

Sophia开始跟耶鲁的牛老师wei-yi yang学习 -- 我瞅着这个名字是中国人,google了
一下,原来是从台湾来的。我台湾师姐的老公,人称钢琴小神童,也在卡内基演出过。
那个时候应该多跟他打听打听八卦就好了,扼腕!
杨老师从来没有这么小的学生,sophia才刚14岁。他的学生都是耶鲁的研究生,非常优
秀的本科生。不过他听过sophia演出,可见这个老师非常喜欢sophia。他只有一个要求
,告诉老师这个要求是小菜一碟。她又称赞大女儿,是靠得住的(能让虎妈靠得住,这
得是个多自推的娃!!),she can take anything: exclusion, excoriation,
humiliation, loneliness – 看得我都为这个娃心疼。不过人家不需要我心疼,人家
是虎娃啊。
杨老师的要求果然非常高,连虎妈以前也闻所未闻。杨老师也很严格,跟sophia说:

good manner的男生. DR. C和DR.S是附近声名显赫的Gay Couple,一个做心理咨询,一个

我说我累得很, 什么也不想说.DR.C.在一块白板上开始讲解他如何治疗病人. talk
talk and talk. When we get to a sensitive point that you feel hurt, we will
stop and talk about something else.
然后他列举了一堆"sensitive point", 说到abandonness,loneliness的时候,我觉得想
哭.碰到sensitive point了? 或者大多数抑郁的人都会觉得being abandoned and
lonely? 我还有guilt...还是说不出话来.

终于迈出了这一步。
学校的心理咨询诊所,一下子就约上了。今天进行了第一个session。
主要是问了我一些问题,讨论导致现在这种状态的主要原因,例如loneliness,
too hard on myself之类的。心理咨询师很专业,使我感觉到她对我的理解与支持。
最后说好下周定些goals,还给我提供一些breathing,meditation,还有防止失眠
的策略/handouts.
回来后感觉没有多少太大的改善,不过毕竟只是第一个session.
