I burned my suit when I ironed in the hotel....the suit that fits me the
best ever...I can never find a suit that fits me that well...
Luckily I had another suit with me, though it was totally wrinkled in my
luggage...
I did not get the offer....

My ex PI had stayed in US for at least 10 years without visiting China. When
I had to take a vacation since my father got a stroke, she tried to shorten
my vacation to 10 days (rules said it should be 2 weeks), and claimed that
10 days are what "two weeks" means. Luckily my visa was checked, and I
stayed for almost 4 weeks in total. Well, my ex PI could say nothing about
it.
My current boss is a very nice person, whom I regard as a gift rewarding my
many years underdog life.

I got a car accident. When I was driving from school towards the subway
station, a kid ran to my left side of the car. Unfortunately he got hurt.
but luckily, all the physical exams indicated he's OK. He was running so
fast crossing the road from the side-road of my left side. Even though I
drove slowly and carefully checked the crosswalk, I didn't realize he was
running towards my car until he was close to my car. A car just passed from
the opposite direct hid him. It was too late.

劝告还是打个电话吧,才知道是骗局,是朋友E_MAIL被盗。 电邮如下,骗子总是说得
时间紧张让你没时间多想的状态,于是救人心切的我就弱智了一把,差点把钱都扔给骗

Yes, I can feel the sadness. RMB 1 million is his parents entire life
savings, that’s why her mother get sick and her father can’t sleep for
several nights. Those guys are terrible in stealing older people’s money.
In the US, even if you transfer $20,000 check from one bank to another,
there’s 3-5days withholding period......but in China, you can transfer
money instantly....

kinda finished one speaker today. it sounds great even before broken in. the
bass sounded amazing. I'd say it really made the music sound full bodied. a
pair of grand speakers.
it is definitely too bright with the default tweeter resister. luckily have
have ordered the other two resister values when I ordered more tweeters. I
made some many freak mistakes today and I was just so pissed. and then the
biggest mistake of all is I realize that my zdt3.5 are build too tall (by 6"
). hopefully my 3.8

lol, for god's sake, i did run into one bad transaction before.
the guy, who's a big seller, went bankrupt, and all buyers filed lawsuit
against him.
he used to be good, with 99% positive feedback and thousands of transactions
. the only negative ones were because of mailing delays.
some buyers lost $50K+ since he only accepted money orders (no protection
from credit cards).
i lost about $1.5K (luckily back then i only bought small chunks in one
transaction). i bought a few batches from him befo

that's exactly why your claim that 401K return shows "ability" is false
because different 401K has different investment choices
some can buy what ever available and some can buy only index funds
for the latter, if they do not accurately/luckily time the market,
they have no ways of outperforming index

in your first post, you did not mention that it was for people who only
have choices of index funds to invest in 401k.
I did say that for these people, they have to accuratly/luckily time
the market in order to outperform index. Whether or not one has the ability
to time the market accurately, or what you said "move money around" needs
to be proved over many years. Many times it was just pure luck IMO.
I know I dont have such an ability so I do not even bother trying it. Just

Take myself as an example. I started to work for an investment bank right
after college. I've never done any real networking, participated in any
society, got any certificate... I just spent my time doing the best work I
could, be aggressive, and tried to maximize my contribution to the company's
bottom line.
10 years have gone by and I am still with the same company (luckily, we are
still in business). Looking back at my career path, I find myself doing not

Company will be closed, H1B layoff, last date is Oct 31, luckily, it is
possible to get an offer by end of Oct.
The problem is: it will be end of Oct if I get the offer, it will be no time
to file transfer H1B visa before Oct 31, it needs 1-2 weeks to apply LCA.
Should I change to other status at end of Oct? I estimate there will be
around 2 weeks gap if I don't change to other status.
Can't sleep now, please advise.

Is Amazon that tough?
I did pretty bad the first one as I said "I have no idea for how to improve
a linear search in a sorted integer array to be less O(n).
Quite embarrassing, as I would know a lot about it ( A simple binary search
will make it to O(lgN)
How dumb I was.
Luckily I did not fail as they probably understand that it is quite possible
that I am too old to remember anything like that.

people here are not familiar with contractors.

time job don't need to look for a job very often, But contractors do. Most

really write any code, just to think the solution. Luckily, passed most of
the phone interviews, and got a couple of offers. The questions posted on
this forum are extremely hard, never got asked those question in my
interviews, nor would I have been able to solve them if asked.

then at level 1, for the left sub arr, A[0 .. 4], I can find max by
maxPointToLeft[4], say i=2, but then at level 2, to find the max of A[3 ..

i don't live on the VA side of DC, but heard it's pretty bad from friends.
the above 坐以待毙VS迎难而上 美华人房地产阴晴不定(ZT) actually talks a lot
about DC area.
on the MD side, i'd say we're back to 2003, so it's definitely more than 10%
and in the neighborhood of 20% from peak.
yeah, we're luckily covered by a lot of gov. jobs in this area, but still,
everything has its maximum reach.
