苹果牌理财系列，这个是第七讲。
先说说如何利用market timing买mutual funds赚点儿小钱。
比如说你要投资的话，可别在有点儿钱的时候就投进去。
什么时候投，还是有点儿技巧的。
如果你胆子不大，对mutual funds不够熟悉的话，可以买index funds。index funds一
般就是mimic market return，跟市场收益紧密挂钩的。买的时候，争取在market最低
点买，如果没本事掐到最低点，好歹也找个相对低的时候买进。比如今年S&P500最低的
时候在1270点，现在在1360，年初的时候是1450，如果你能有本事在1300左右买进的话
，现在也赚了5%以上了。如果你有幸买的MF比market赚的更多的话，那么恭喜你，你已
经赚了10%了。
然后可以利用market的波动来赚点儿小钱。
展开来说，就是market大跌的时候，比如昨天跌了近3%，那么昨天就适合把risk低的，
beta低的卖掉，换成risk高点儿的，beta高点儿的，因为market下跌时，risk低 |

我老当年在国内做过marketing，也在wpp下的一个大agent做过research
来说几点意见：
1.
marketing收入普遍不高（极少数高端marketing research除外，那些大多都是要phd的）
所以出来读mba再去做marketing的ROI很低。这也是为什么板上少见有讨论的原因
2.
marketing这个行业主要还是靠经验
就我国内工作几年所看到的，五年大公司经验在职场上的分量远远超过一个名校mba
up to 500强公司中国区brand director，或者几个大的agent中国office的VP level
做到跨国公司CMO这个级别的，估计MBA还是有用的
一来是因为在industry里marketing这东西本身bullshit的东西很多
这也是为什么后来我老做得心灰意冷来美国追求“真理”读PhD的原因之一
二来这个行业本身不是很重视学历。

multiple currencies (ADR is one such exception). and most investors are
one-currency donominated: think about how many Chinese investing in

多零售行业，基本就是模型说了算
从你说的这段话,"至于marketing modeling, 无非是在有限的marketing budget里，把
广告发给最有可能成为（好）顾客的人那里。当一个公司有足够的budget去最大化广告
对象的时候，marketing modeling 就会显得更加不重要。"
可以看出，也许你的modelling能力很强，但你实在不知道为什么会需要marketing
data analysis，当然，这也和你处的行业有关，金融保险也许是不需要太多marketing
modeling。
你想想，哪个公司会钱多到发烧，有足够多的budget去最大话广告对象，如果这样，稍
微大一点的base，一个compaign就要甩出去几千万，还需不需要干其它的事?
marketing还有一种更重要的模型，churn模型，就是给现有的用户发广告，当模型算出
用户可能会churn时，给写promotion，留住客户.

equity and debt markets are out of sync.

Product Mgr 但是赶上了10月底经济危机，打了个措手不及加上OPT 11月15日过90天限
期；开始疯狂找工作，用了基本所有的工作网站和公司网站，我找的职位是marketing
analyst, marketing manager, marketing research analyst, product marketing之
类；电话面试25-30个，公司2面10个左右，final 6个，最后Offer 2个，一个是6个月
的实习Mathworks，就没去。再一个就是这个Car Dealer Group 的Marketing Manager.
申H1-B,在Wellesley地区。我以前帮助他们的CEO做过两个项目，感觉还不错，后来帮
他们做了SEO，省了他一笔钱，就bring me on board了。
总结一下觉得现在情况很不好，支持H1-B的更少了，薪水也不高，不过先好好干一段，
做的东西我很喜欢是关于Internet marketing的。

“A Seller Market”也会出现“上市很久没人抢的房"，单一case和少数case不足以扭
转或否定“A Seller's Market”。
“Seller's Market”会有over priced挂售；即便买卖双方同意，appraiser也会否决
那个“你情我愿”价。
“Seller's Market”也会有种种房子问题引起买家不敢出offer的；
更有lising agent 掌握不好时机，timing 错误，引起潜在买家狐疑， 从而影响上市
呆滞时间， 从而影响售价的。

1）开始的几个重量级ER Beat给市场带来局部Rally外（如INTC），后面的每次重
量级ER的Beat却带来SellOff （如AAPL，MSFT等等），显示出Distribution的特征
2）由于Mixed的ER存在，Market内部开始出现板块分化，特别是技术类板块与金融，原
材及料零售等板块的差异，由于总的趋势过去一直是向上（均线），所以现在有明显的
特征说明继续这样向上运动的Momentum变弱
3）现在Market拒绝有效的（健康的）调整，是因为MM还不愿意立刻出来做熊，一方面
，他们已经觉得Market 的Overbought与经济基本面不相称了，另一方面出货毕竟不是
一天两天的事，所以在当前这样的市场条件下，MM最有利的锁利方法就是不断震荡拉高
的出货，给人以Buy-on-dip仍然可以获利去搏傻
4）基于上面一条，不排除Market仍然冲新高的可能（譬如10300），Market将在一个高
Volatility的Intraday 震荡中迎来较大幅度的回落。

前一段时间说过，研究好了mark-to-market election后，来这里讨论，先把我的resea
rch分享一下。
没有看到mark-to-market election对身份的要求，我认为Nonresident Alien也可以ma
rk-to-market。但是保税的时候和resident是不一样的，股版有讨论，capical loss不
能抵税，gain要交的税率很高，因为只能算作US non-relate。

枯水期，响应太阳鱼号召码点字。纯属一家之言，大家看着玩。没什么干货，没pick，
别砸砖。
股龄十五年，在顶尖buyside公司也混过多年，三年前“退休”,说是退休，其实就是职
业炒股。小时候爱打游戏，碰股票以后再也没怎么玩过，因为觉得股市就是最有趣的游
戏/肥皂剧，每天都有新的故事，每天都能学到新的知识，每天和Mr. Market过招，和
自己过招，永远不会腻。虽然也会有郁闷压抑的日子，大多数时候还是很庆幸自己找到
一个真心喜欢的职业，从来不觉得是工作，用巴菲特的话就是tap dance to work，这
辈子除非老年痴呆了,也不会真正的退休。

科读起吗？如果以后，想近industry，是读master,还是Phd？偶认为自己

marketing 出差是有机会的，也可以建立connection，这些我都很认同，也是有优势的
地方。只是身边的人大多都是做技术上去的，所以对走marketing这条路了解不多。
但是marketing不同于sales，sales销售做好了，能赚钱是肯定的，而且手中资源多了
也很有优势。但marketing其实具体做什么，我还不是很清楚，感觉就像是做规划一样
，但是本身部门是不盈利的吧
其实我只是担心下一份工作，因为大家招人都想找match的人，R$D如果能找到纯技术的
人的话，是不会找做marketing的人的
不过你说的有道理，也许marketing那边本身也有很多就业机会，只不过我不了解罢了 |

6 yrs later at this point. But there are certain over-saturated fields like
nuclear medicine. But no one knows that the market will return after 5-6
years. I am not denying market-driven choice. It is also very important.
