Sorry i cannot use chinese right now.
Metaphor is the problem I have been thinking about recently.
Cognitive linguistics study metaphor to understand how people use metaphor to
construct meaning.
Anthropology study metaphor to do cross-cultural comparison of cultural
pattern.
The largely agreed-upon assumption is that the underlying mechanism of
metaphor is association: mapping from one domain to another.
Whenever I read a poem I always keep an eye on the metaphor a poet use, and

These are the frequent subjects of today's American novels and Hollywood

Multiple times, God “hardened Pharaoh’s heart” in order to get glory for
himself by continuing his miraculous deeds. First the Nile River turned into
blood. Then out of the river came frogs. Then lice or fleas. Then biting
flies. Then a pestilence that killed the Egyptian livestock. Then boils and

Origins of Peter as Pope
http://www.catholic.com/tracts/origins-of-peter-as-pope

The New Testament contains five different metaphors for the foundation of
the Church (Matt. 16:18, 1 Cor. 3:11, Eph. 2:20, 1 Pet. 2:5–6, Rev. 21:14).
One metaphor that has been disputed is Jesus Christ’s calling the apostle
Peter "rock": "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and

Nietzsche's "Three Metamorphoses"
by Jason Francois
In the section of Thus Spoke Zarathustra entitled, "Of the Three
Metamorphoses,” Zarathustra describes a process of human transformation.
This transformation will become Zarathustra's answer to the fears and
anxieties created by the "death of God".
Nietzsche begins: "I name you three metamorphoses of the spirit: how the
spirit shall become a camel, and the camel a lion, and the lion at last a
child".
These metaphors...

CHAPTER 1:
BODY AND SOUL:
CALVINISM, DISCIPLINE AND STATE POWER IN EARLY MODERN EUROPE
AMan is not fitted for society by nature, but by discipline.@
Hobbes, De Cive
The differences between the theoretical perspective advanced here and the one
adopted in most work on state formation can be easily grasped in terms of a
common metaphor, the metaphor of the Abody politic@ and, more specifically, by
means of one of its better-known representations, the frontispiece to the
first edition of Hobbes=s Le

Our 25 Best Movies of 2010 range from a Facebook biopic to a Western remake,
from an animated story about toys to a war movie that hardly ever leaves
the interior of a tank. There’s a Venezuelan story filmed in Austria, an
Israeli film called Lebanon, an American remake of a Swedish movie, and
films from Belgium, Australia, Argentina, Great Britain and Italy. Some are
popcorn flicks, and others will change the way you thin...

原文:The Spirit of May 35th (载《纽约时报》—中国来信, 2011年6月23日)
