his left MCL, contradicting a previous report that Leftwich had torn the MCL.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette confirms Mort's report. Though he believes he
can avoid surgery and start the season opener next week, a Steelers source
called that possibility "not likely." The recovery timetable for a grade-2
MCL sprain is typically 2-4 weeks. The Steelers will decide between Dennis
