For example, if you are studying a kinase function in neurobiology. You
found total KO of your gene leads to embryonic lethal phenotype, and
conditional KO of your gene in neuron leads to very interesting phenotype.
Culturing of KO neuron in vitro also showed dramatic phenotype.
Interestingly, restoration of kinase dead (KD) mutant in KO neuron fully
rescued the phenotype (same as restoration of WT).

neuron今年要超过nn了，过16已没问题，有可能接近17。（个人预测nn在16.0左右
，neuron在16.5左右）。
N子刊都是月刊，而neuron是半月刊，发文量多了一倍，如果neuron也搞成月刊，IF还
会有相当大的上升空间。
其实对于C和N子刊这样的系列杂志来说，IF并不能反映谁比谁牛的问题，可能更说明各
自领域的研究热度差异。stem cell，immunity，NI，NM,cancer cell，IF高是因为肿
瘤免疫干细胞临床这些方向相对热门。NSMB是做结构的最好的期刊，但却是N子刊最低
的，只能说明做结构的相对上面几个领域冷门一些，如果看着IF然后下结论说发一篇
NSMB的人没有发一篇NI的人牛，可能有失公允，因为NSMB和NI都是各自领域的顶级杂志
。虽然相对冷门一些，但大概因为结构这东西又很重要，于是CNS只得在主刊留出相当
一部分发文量给做结构的。 |

亲手治疗过的案例。
我自从知道有“为人父母",就想来推荐此书，但是一再犹豫。因为收录的这下案例非常
非常的extreme。有幼童亲见母亲被杀，或是遭遇性侵，还有冷血少年杀手，遭邪教洗
脑的孩子，和如书名所诉，被和狗一起圈养的孤儿。这绝对不是一个“容易”读的书。
我一直认为我的心里承受能力很不错，但是两次读此书，我都经常要take a break，我
觉得很多有孩子的人都会觉得这本书读不下去。

quotas。近20年亚裔大学适龄人口增加一倍，但是ivy league的比例没有任何变化，而
且8校都越来越集中到15-20%左右。caltech亚裔学生增长跟人口比例增加是吻合的。不
知道MIT,Stanford这些学校如何？
这个图我看只能用racial quotas解释了。除非亚裔学生在这20年内成绩不断下降？这
个基本上没有可能，也无法解释caltech的情况。。。

I downloaded All the AAO decisions for the past three years. I read one by one for a total number of more than 200 decisions. I took good paragraphs from recommendation letters which IOs thought have met criterion of contribution. Because the works were from PDF files, I had to reformat them into word file.

说的是，欧美人一样用草药。知道Astragalus么？对的，是黄芪。欧美人很喜欢用这两
个药混在一起用于对抗病毒感冒。中国的烂树根和鲜花可以治感冒！欧美也有秘方治感
冒。别以为感冒只能喝水，那是医生敷衍你。虽然很多疾病可以自愈，但是谁不希望症
状尽快减轻和治愈？要不然西医也没必要研发感冒药了。

用behavior做assay可能有个问题：stroke病人在血管阻塞之后几乎是立即出现
behavioral imparement,像不能动，不能说话（不能喊）之类的。这时，neuron还没死
(人一般在stroke 20min之后开始有neuron death),但因为缺氧，缺energy而失去功能.
behavior assay 似乎只能找到能快速打散人工血栓的compound（来恢复供血供氧).
neuron protectant对急性的behavior imparement似乎不会有作用。从保护neuron的角
度来说，cell death reporter似乎更靠谱。 |

single type of cultured cell represent a functional renal unit in dish?
I simply don't like the idea of in vitro disease model.
for the example of neuronal diseases, I imagine it is usually late-onset and
the disease phenotype is pertinent to the neurons in the funcational domain
/circuit of the nervous system. The idea to establish such a kind of in
