大烟山萤火虫event是一大特色，每年大概在5月底6月初，peak是两周，event一般
是一周时间。和别处的萤火虫不同之处在于这里的萤火虫不光多，还可以Synchronize
，也就是说萤火虫们可以同时灭灯，亮灯，科学家们对这个现象至今还没有很好的解释
。萤火虫亮灯是交配季节，雄性萤火虫一边飞一边向静止的雌性萤火虫发出信号，然后
此处省略一万字。synchronize不知道是不是有一点要公平竞争的意思。萤火虫卵被产

Newfound gap
位于贯穿大雾山南北的441公路中间，这里的Gap是指山脊上的低点，海拔只有5046
feet，和Clingmans Dome海拔相差甚远，距离却只有7迈。1872年以前，Indian Gap（
在Newfound Gap西边1.5迈）一直被认为是最低的，直到瑞士地理学者Arnold Henry
Guyot用气压计测出这里更低，所以一拍脑袋就叫Newfound gap，至于为什么不以自己
的名字命名是因为人家的名字已经用在了大雾山的第二高峰Mount Guyot上。Newfound
gap有restroom，大观景台和大停车场，可以欣赏开阔的mountain view。

半天在猛犸洞，2天在大雾山。
Day 1:
Michigan出发，经Louisville KY，逛了一下downtown，步行：church of assumption,
4th street live, visitor center, park, International convention center, KFC
Yum center, Riverwalk (statue), Kentucky Center, Muhammad Ali center, hall
of justice, 钱多时间多的可以去棒球博物馆 Slugger Museum，附近还有science
museum, history museum, 和art museum. 还开车去了Ohio River上的McAlpine Locks
and Dam，正好还有拖船过lock。晚上住Horse Cave附近。

Laurel falls trailhead位于园子西北，Fighting Creek Gap road上，
Sugarlands visitor center西边3.5迈，从北门开去Cades Cove会经过。Trailhead停
车场非常小，但是可以歪在路边停。trail单程1.3迈，非loop，paved小石头路，没有
台阶，轮椅和儿童推车不能上，有elevation但不高，建议预留2 h。瀑布高80 feet，
水量还可以。大俗必去。

Trail难易（5表示最难，难度分数based on从来不锻炼的懒人）：2/5

一战二战前自然不用说，人类旧秩序，独裁、战火、殖民、屠杀。。。要什么有什么。

和组织，然而冷战下，以苏联为首的共产国家依然是独裁当道，还有萨达姆卡扎菲这类
地区小霸王。多少人无辜惨死，其治下普通老百姓是无人权和自由可言的。
然后到七十年代末期，共产国家的经济纷纷玩不下去，看到资本主义自由世界蒸蒸日上
，有的还实现了社会主义，这逼着他们开始经济改革。但是有些国家没有成功，导致十
几年后的苏东剧变。
这几十年也伴随着三波民主化浪潮，全世界至少有选举的国家在九十年代末达从二战前
的三十多个到了一百多个。
