发帖数: 1 | 1 算算也飘过来七八年了，在中西部某地呆了好几年。应该算是左逼们喷的“红脖子”比
较多的地区了吧，可是在所有场合碰到的“红脖子”都彬彬有礼，更是好几次遇到了意
外的热情帮助。作为一个有点敏感的人，还硬是没碰到过所谓被歧视还是啥的。
倒是这几年来到相对Liberal的东部，倒是碰到过不大不小算是小半回的歧视，但也没
有看清楚对方是白是黑。另外感觉东部大多白女虽然表面客气却骨子里有点歧视人，有
趣的是白女偏向民主党的还挺多的。
说到吃福利，想来想去，广大农村小镇里吃福利的，大多确实是负担比较重或者失业，
还有些有其他困难或者吸毒的。相比“红脖子”，还是窝在大城市里的猥琐白左吃福利
的比较多。
大多“红脖”闲时打猎忙时种粮磨洋工，周末认认真真去教堂，过节排队抢电视，平时
一刀掰成四个quarter花，一辆旧Mercury修修补补开到二十万迈。确实有些极端的，比
如bikers啥的，但是这些人在“红脖子”里也算是outliner；另外，这些outliner也不
会主动招惹人，跟BLM这种极左团体的最大区别是从来不play victim很少去公共场所捣
乱。

plan有10页，其中包括没发表的图什么的，其中前两页为summary和outline tables。
我已经注意尽量不透露太细节的东西，可是还是觉得不太放心。
不知道国内学术道德水准如何，需要提防别人看了research plan后抄袭idea吗？那些
人不一定自己照着做，可能跟别人聊天，然后有些差些的院校有人照着做，有这种风险
吗？还是尽管发，没事。如果只把前两页summary和outline tables当research plan发
过去，是不是显得准备太不充分了吧？ |

你肯定就比我写得好，从成就上来判断的话。我这里不是说语法或者句式漂亮什么的，
而是怎样写才能“说服”别人。科技写作不是说我做了什么，老老实实摆上来不就完了
，反正intro methods我都有，你不懂是你的问题。我看了大牛指导，仔细琢磨了一下
，就是说，不能急着倒豆子。每句话都琢磨一下，这句话现在就放在这里倒底能否被明
白和接受。如果还不行，单纯是为了急着让人明白我的东西重要我的有意思，完全达不
到目的，讲了等于白讲。
另外，关于提纲的问题，我虽然不写单独的outline，但是我所有的部分除了intro，包
括discussion，都是有个subtitle在的，一方面是别人看得清楚，但其实也帮助了自己
理清思路，和outline一个道理。尤其是discussion，很容易这段开头讲A, 讲到结尾又
开始讨论B了。有个subtitle摆在那里你就会被confined。 |

女生，女发考题。每次有人说，大部分女人都这样那样不这样不那样，就会有人提出很
多反例。然后开始一方就会说，outliners总是有的，我说的是大部分，是统计的事实
，这你不能否认。
嗯，也许是统计吧，我承认。但对我个人来讲，统计没什么意义。任何一个个体，不论
男女黑白，他/她存在的意义和价值，不在于“符合”统计的地方，而就在于outliner
的地方。这才是让我们感到骄傲的地方，是不是？历史上所有不凡的功业，基本上

pros：背景还不错，都是top school, GPA高。。(fresh貌似公司还是会稍微看看这个)
cons: 没有intern经验是硬伤，PhD期间，上完课后代码写得不多
package还没开始谈，initial offer都差不多200k+的样子，大公司hr明确表示等我都
面完了可以谈, startup都是late stage, 股票都是十万分之5-10, 感觉不好谈。LD目

后来只花了一个小时。我拿到帐单后问他能不能减价，因为他实际只花了一小时。他立
马否认说过的话，只说当时就是550美元，你同意了，所以我就是只花10分钟，还是一
整天，你都得付550美元。
我的理由是当时同意550美元，是因为你说要两个小时，我看问题比较复杂，才同意550
美元的报价。你现在把问题先故意复杂化，好charge我很高的labor fee.这完全是欺骗

If the reference agrees to use your draft and revise it, that'll be fine. Or if they don't want to use your draft, you can give them an outline of the reference letter to specify what contents should be there. Your lawyer should give you that outline. |

在准备EB1A之前，心里一点底都没有。找了版上好几个“著名的律师”们评估。发现了
“好律师们”好的原因：他们接手的全是十拿九稳的case，对于没有把握的case，他们
不接。换言之，感觉这种律师的作用仅仅是个中介。对于背景很强，但没有时间的同学
们来说，是个不错的选择。但会面临被RFE的危险，因为最了解自己research的，只有
自己。举个例子，虽然biophysics和biochemistry都在life science的范畴，但学
biophysics的同学可能要花很多时间才能给学biochemistry的同学解释清自己的
research是什么。所以更何况那些律师呢。第一：他们愿意花那么多时间了解我的
research吗？第二：他们有那么多客户，会有那么多时间在我身上吗？第三：虽然我很
了解我的research，尚且还要花很多时间打理清楚什么才是闪光点呢，交给别人还是不
放心。自己也被有理工科背景的律师评估过，感觉不是很靠谱。也看到版上很多人请律
师，花了钱，还被律师牵着鼻子走，生气，而且律师还常常出错。所以，下决心DIY。

肯定了publication, 质疑了审稿，说是审稿是发生在2014年2015年，有问题，其实我
2013年也有一篇审稿。需要提交The criteria the publishers use for selecting
peer reviewers
• The criteria for being a member of the editorial board
• The reputation of the publishers来证明不是routine的工作。部分应该没
有，我手上有两份信，都是说因为我outstanding才让我审稿的。另外还有一个德国的
编辑同意给我写封信。关键是contribution,RFE是模板，这个不怪IO,律师写的关于
contribution的推荐信太模板，里面没有具体的我的工作别别人应用的例子。而且正如
你们所说，推荐人太弱，没有欧美强国的推荐信。接下来准备找一个日本的教授（前段
时间同意，但过了几个月不知道是不是改变主意了。昨天给他发了封... 阅读全帖 |

发帖数: 130 | 49 更新，为应付RFE，增加了6封推荐信，中国教授一封，韩国副教授一封，美籍华人（自
己开公司）一封，美国教授一封，两位编辑各一封。文章数目没有增加，引用从151增
加到了171次，审稿从31增加到了36次。虽然引用数目还行，但是，没有一个引用是大
家所认为的亮点。所有的推荐人没有一个业内的牛人。所审的稿，除了plos one用
google的排名，看起来还行，其它都是不知名期刊。律师建议在感恩节前送出RFE
response，好让移民官一边吃这火鸡肉，一边审我的案子。结果证明律师是正确的。我
只能说，自己比较幸运，碰到了比较好的移民官。
