each other with UDP packets. Why some UDP packets are lost? The destination
address of the UDP packets is the machine's IP address, not 127.0.0.0.
Since the application processes are on the same machine, the UDP packets go
from application layer to network layer, then back to the application layer.
They will not reach link layer, right?

and client run on the same machine. Each time the client runs, it sends out
100000 UDP packets within 2 min. The size of each packet is 1KB. Maybe it is
too much, right?
I use setsockopt() to change the SO_RCVBUF. I found that even if I make the
buffer very larger, it does not help, on the contrary, more packets are
dropped. Even for the same buffer size, the result varies.
Do I need to adjust SO_SNDBUF? If SO_SNDBUF is to |

1 2 3 4 5 going out in a TCP connection, they are in one tcp segment saying
"from 1 to 5", this segment is broken up into 5 IP packets,
all 5 IP packets arrive on receiver fine except 3, which keeps dropping, so
the receiving end won't be able to assemble the TCP segment, so receiving
client can not see any of the bytes 1--5, right? and TCP protocol on the
receiving end has to keep requesting retransmission of the entire segment in
its ACK ?

长度在一个packet以内以最大限度增加并发数。
还有就是不能用传统的网络服务架构。因为它们并发进来的request数超过CPU数则要放
到队列里等待处理。这个队列长度是有限制的（5000？）。超过了了就杯具了。
TCP/IP还有一个杀笔的地方是协商通讯速度。理论上没个用户进来都要先协商一下。从
醉慢速度开始协商。管你是的速度是1TTTBps。等协商完哪真是黄花菜都凉了。
现在的小青年会刷算法白布。这些脏乱差和他们是没啥关系的。 |

In solaris, just include pcap.h and will have some function
on packet capture. In Linux 7.0 RedHat, I didn't find that
header file. Do you know where it is? Or I should install
something or use other library?
Also, if I use *pcap_open_live(), there is a device name. I
wonder what's that? Where can I find that device?

packet tracer 能不能根真正的cisco router interface相连？
目标：测试ospf在3个devices上。
方案：在我的laptop上再装一个network card， packetTracer连接ciscoRouter的
interface,再与两个cisco switches相连，一个linksys SRW208MP，另一个SR216。配
置ospf在devices上，可以吗？
还有公司用broadview的网络，timewarner的failover,目标建立Astaro firewall在两
个公司的router之间,是不是只在Astaro firewall上配置ospf即可？ 不用关心
broadview，timeWarner的配置吗？ospf是不是可以自动调整相连device的配置？ |
