Matheson，就不会是电影的novelization。要知道，novelization代价比出版一本旧书
高，还要commission作家，不容易。一般作家也不愿意做novelization的工作。
这种书一般都是几块钱，年代久远了，应该是Mass market paperback或者是trade
paperback版本了，都会很便宜。一般头版是hard cover贵一些，过两年就有trade
paperback出来了，再过些时popular的fiction就有mass market paperback。 |

55%是言情小说。刚才找了一下，消息出自这里：

了。不过在火车、飞机、候车室各种地方，倒确实经常看到些女士捧

销售额的55%，那么paperback总销售是$2.18 billion。减去另两个
热门种类（科奇幻$510 million，侦探小说$405 million），就只剩
下6.5%了。很难相信，除去以上三个种类以外，其他paperback书籍
的总销售只有6.5%。。。

I can't comment on the digital version. This isn't a big drop from the
usual $35 dollars (probably a promotion for the upcoming series) but all 4
for only 21 dollars seems like a great deal (I believe the normal versions
are $11 a piece).
Also, these books are the smaller versions of the original paperbacks. I'm
a fan of the large paperbacks (usually around 9" tall by 6" wide), these are
about 7" tall by 4" wide.

纸皮书也不适合图书馆馆藏。一般的纸皮书是trade paperback，如果是非常畅销的，
还会有mass market paperback，就是那种在车站码头卖的小砖头
这是抓消费者的心理，hard cover一般比paper cover早出几个月，吸引的就是那些为
了早日一睹为快不惜多花几块钱的铁杆粉丝。 |

发帖数: 26819 | 42 2000年的时候在网上买过一本paperback，大概是美国这边印的，翻了不久就散页了。其
实那本书还是胶订，只不过胶得不均匀，厚的地方太厚，薄的地方太薄，而书比较厚，
翻开的时候书脊的动静就比较大，结果脱胶了，分断成了两本。我就索性拆成几小本，
每一本拿订书机再订牢，编上号成了一套书。
胶印的书，最怕因为有气洞造成不匀，不匀造成断胶。只遇到过那一次。其余paperbac
k，像畅销小说那种，轻而厚的，都是很薄一层胶，却没再见过脱落的。仔细看看hardc
over的书，厚的会用对折索线订，有个内层书脊，薄的可能就直接粘在外层书脊上，一
般都用了胶，胶一般都很薄很匀，足够结实。
国内的都是paperback，顶多加层非常累赘的套封。买胶订书，拿到书首先看顶部和底
部，是不是每隔多少页就对折的，如果是，那就是用了索线订。再看有没有胶，胶有
没有气洞。如果有气洞，就得小心。如果是白色实实一层，翻起来就足够牢靠放心了。
断胶是国内胶订的常见问题。而索线订的常见问题是漏页。有些索线订的线根本没穿过
折页的某些纸张，结果书印好了，有几页是浮着的，打开就能漏出来。这个没辙，我只

我最近看了几本bgp 和 mpls方面比较原始的小本书，都是薄薄的，
很好。
MPLS: Implementing the Technology (With CD-ROM) [Paperback]
Eric W. Gray (Author), Gray (Author)
BGP4: Inter-Domain Routing in the Internet [Paperback]
John W. Stewart (Author)
关键它们都带有点历史感，有点生动的感觉，容易得到总体的印象。
两个作者都是早期的圈内人，感觉就是参与原始开发或起草标准的人，
所以写书比较诚恳客气，估计时刻知道读者里有自己周围的明白人，
所以不敢罗嗦。讲究的是解说明白透彻，是不让圈子里的人说自己不懂。
和一般的培训书不同。
MPLS那书中说明的一个概念很好：mpls就是用switch的方法实现routing的功能。 |
