The strongest evidence, however, is found in the Greek text itself. Looking
at 1 John 5:8, there are three nouns which, in Greek, stand in the neuter (
Spirit, water, and blood). However, they are followed by a participle that
is masculine. The Greek phrase here is oi marturountes (who bare witness).
Those who know the Greek language understand this to be poor grammar if left
to stand on its own. Even more noticeably, verse six has the same
participle but stands in the neuter (Gk.: to marturoun)

it's not an adverb for sure.
an adverb never modifies a noun.

来自主题: EnglishChat版 - 因子分解
It depends on the the syntactic function of the word when you use it.
It is commonly known that (a^2-b^2) can be factored into (a+b)*(a-b).
("factored" is a past participle used in the passive voice)
If a and b are not equal, (a^2-b^2)/(a-b) can be simplified into
(a+b) by factoring the numerator into (a+b)*(a-b) first, and then
canceling the two (a-b) terms in the numerator and the denominator.
("factoring" begins a gerund phrase that is a prepositional object)

希腊文的词汇非常丰富。希伯来文的词语不多,约少于一万;而希腊文则有二十万之多
