connect的地方。plumber偶然发现sewer pipe伸出basement wall后和另外一段pipe连
在一起的地方有些disconnect,不是完全disconnect,joint目前还是套在两段pipe上，
只是有段pipe有些往下沉，可能是settlement造成的。他说这会造成potential 的risk
,可
能家里的waste water哪天会出不去。至于什么时候会出事，他也不确定，可能几个月
，也可能一两年。要fix这个问题，他估计得花三到四千，因为要挖土，还有砸开水泥
的drive way.
我们很犹豫，对我们l来说这确实是很多钱。我们想能不能等等。如果以后发生waste
water block往家里返流造成damage的话，保险公司应该会cover损失吧，那时是不是也
能cover管子的这三四千的修理费。我们的保险有water/sewer backup coverage. 我的

the garbage disposal to the drain pipe. In most homes, that pipe is not
glued to the other pipes, so you can easily remove that pipe, by twisting
the cap located on the various joints of the pipes. just take it down, and
go to home depot and get one that's exactly the same. easy replacement.

比如有个大文件XXX有1G, 想数行数。直接就是
cat XXX | wc -l
用parallel就是
cat XXX | parallel --block 10M --pipe wc -l | awk 'BEGIN{a=0;}{a = a+ $1;}
END{print a;}'
wc -l可以换成grep, awk等任意可以以pipe方式运行的程序。
parallel --pipe会把输入分成大致--block指定的大小，默认是1M。然后启动N个wc一
块跑。和hadoop一样，parallel只会在行与行之间切分，所以是awk-friendly的。
parallel --pipe这步相当于map，如果有需要后面再reduce一下。
如果不加--pipe，输入的每一行会作为参数启动一个后面跟的命令。比如你的输入如果
存在大量文件里，那么就是find ... -type f | pipe wc -l 了

The main reason the cold pipe (bigger one) is insulated is because if it is
not water will condensate on it and drip down on to area should not get wet
and cause other problems.
If possible you can wrap them both together, use the cold pipe to help cool
down the hot pipe part of the way.
If you system is very efficient, the cold return pipe should be just a few
degree cooler than the room temp. Most over sized system is not, and the

pipe sewer line in house. We did it along with water pipe.
We didn't change the pipe in the wall and only changed the pipe under crawl
space. It's additional $1000 (can't recall clearly) to the water pipe. |

我EE PHD 毕业八年了，一直在工业界做硅工，大小公司都干过，现在一年全部收入税
前17万多一点点，我的同学朋友学CS的，不管是master还是PHD，全在25万以上，现在
一年涨个3-4%，这辈子也赶不上啊！老夫当年论能力论人品都不算差的，EE学起来也不
比CS省力，真是人怕入错行啊。以后通讯压根儿没的做，物理层和MAC层就是提供一个
pipe，pipe不值钱，里面流的东西才值钱，我们搞通讯的就是提供那个pipe，人家
google,amazon, facebook玩的是pipe里流的东西，现在pipe也没什么提高头了，都他
妈逼近香浓极限了，提高那么零点几个dB有个毛营养。
我原来公司的老板90年berkeley EE PD 毕业，搞了二十年通讯算法，前些日子吃饭对

没有用那种drain tile，就是接roof gutter downspout水的drain pipe。本来计划是
要做那种gravel, filter fabirc,drain tile with holes的那种的，可挖开地基一看
，以前就没这么做，30多年了，地基还很好，因为我家在坡上，排水通畅，所以就来了
个simplified version的。
我记得，如果用gravel的话，也就是上下左右各6寸的样子，乘个长度就可以了，但外
面一定得包fabric，土的浸透能力还是很强的。
BTW，我的房子的当初的biulder挺不负责任的，估计是当时drain pipe不够了，有几段
drain tile混在pipe line里面了，但外面一点防护措施都没有，就是直接回添的土，
明显能看到土已经进到pipe里面了。我家一直有gutter的水不走downspout的问题，我
估计可能就是这些堵塞的pipe的问题，anyway,再下场雨就知道是不是问题已经解决了。 |

怎么换 is actually kind of east, turn off the elec to the unit, disconnect
the elec (usually loose a few screws holding the wires behind a cover),

我EE PHD 毕业八年了，一直在工业界做硅工，大小公司都干过，现在一年全部收入税
前17万多一点点，我的同学朋友学CS的，不管是master还是PHD，全在25万以上，现在
一年涨个3-4%，这辈子也赶不上啊！老夫当年论能力论人品都不算差的，EE学起来也不
比CS省力，真是人怕入错行啊。以后通讯压根儿没的做，物理层和MAC层就是提供一个
pipe，pipe不值钱，里面流的东西才值钱，我们搞通讯的就是提供那个pipe，人家
google,amazon, facebook玩的是pipe里流的东西，现在pipe也没什么提高头了，都他
妈逼近香浓极限了，提高那么零点几个dB有个毛营养。
我原来公司的老板90年berkeley EE PD 毕业，搞了二十年通讯算法，前些日子吃饭对
我说，“空拍以后得学学写软件了。”我靠，这还叫人活吗？我也想转型，可是38了，

就我混了一年总结的经验是:
process piping belongs to civil engineers;
HVAC, drainage, serwage, fire protection belongs to Mechanical engineers,
but they're in a seperate group mainly focus on piping
Chemical piping of course belongs to Chemical engineers...
But most of the pipe sizing, pump selection, hydraulic calc and pipe routing
are done by Civil engineers. |

鸟巢生育后代，当时小 kestrel已经很大，自己爬到箱口，父母自然很辛苦的喂养小宝
贝。通常是雄 kestrel 抓老鼠，雌 kestrel 则在窝边蹲着守护，雄鸟将食物交给雌鸟
，雌鸟将老鼠剥皮，去头，然后将小鲜肉送给小鸟吃。
拍摄点离窝约30米，离成鸟约45米到50米，中间是很高的杂草地，草上有 deer ticks
。有一摄影师朋友冒险走入草地，结果后背上吃了一个 tick, 红红的疤有一个小碗口
般大。我老老实实的走在 trail 上竟然也发现左小腿上吃一个 tick ，那 tick 很大
，很容易就从我腿上脱落下来。
虽然我抓拍到几个成鸟交换食品的瞬间，但由于距离远，出片很小，不得不放弃。
小鸟在上周五下午出窝，立马就连蹦带跳跑到远外的深草地里，有三位从下午就蹲在那
的摄影师朋友拍到小鸟在地上停留的一瞬间。我因堵在下班的公路上， 原来45分钟的

99年3月底买的,corolla 90, 4dr, DX,买来时muffler就不是太好
也没有爬下去看到底坏到什么程度,就这么将就开了半年多
前不久觉得越来越响,决定修修它
首先,开到midas免费检查了一下,发现muffler下确实有两个不小的hole,
mechanic 告诉我,我所有的东西都是original的,而且要帮我换从converter
后的所有东西,要价$260.我当然不同意换那么多
说没有那么多钱,他就帮我一件件砍,说这个可以不换那个可以不换
muffler不要换lifetime的,换个1 yr warranty的就好了,
最后说只换muffler和2节pipe,要价$86.5
一方面当时没有时间,他们要下班,另一方面我想比较一下价格
这样,我把车开到其他shop检查,出的价比midas高
差不多1个多月后,我又回到midas,准备修muffler
照例检查,说要全换,$260+. 有开始新一轮的讨价还价:-))
dealer不愧是最大的liar,这次竟然说pipe被换过
而且坚持要全部换,说什么如果不换所有的pipe,过一段时间,

发帖数: 114 | 49 1996年的旧车Nissan Sentra GXE，排气筒的中段（名叫Walker Pipe，Front Pipe后面
那一段）有个直径2cm左右的洞，在网上订了一个新的Walker Pipe。螺丝上面全是锈，
还没敢拧。
从没有DIY过，请问该怎样把锈住的螺丝拧下来？Gasket是需要单买的吗？
此外Front Pipe上的一圈铁皮烂掉了。这东西是叫mounting bracket还是叫mounting
insulator？
