is not big name, it is mainly composed of AMGs and it is not easy to give

我十二月在外科病理轮转，明年一月应该有几个 fellowship 面试，估计不能一一作陪。班上拿到面试的同学，有需要了解 program 和面试 faculty 的情况，或者到

部＂会议，赶紧过来发发感慨。
我所在的是一个社区性质的program， 以往的惯例是prematch几乎一半。 今年换了一
位雄心勃勃的PD,只prematch了一个位置， 一个印度女孩。她的step1, step2也就high
80, 但是她在我们这里见习了一个月，给PD的印象非常好，似乎是个很聪明的人，和
别人也和得来。剩下的名额就全部打算match。
ranking meeting 是attending 们已经根据硬指标排好名，我们，包括attending,
residents,nurses,secretaries 先从list里挑出坚决不要的，再把剩下的人分成up
one third, middle one third, lower one third.最后再排基本名次。
作为PGY1，我没有机会见过所有人，大部分时间是听faculty, senior们议论。同时想
去年不知他们怎么议论的我。

说说我自己的经历，给大家鼓鼓劲。
J1：能不用就不用。作完住院医生找工作的时候，你就会发现有多痛苦。我见过成功的
人都是在大学里找到的工作，当然收入是要打很大折扣。可是，更多的人不得不作很多
FELLOW，甚至绝望得去了加拿大。
H1：先打电话去PROGRM问清楚是不是资助H1，然后再申请。我当年问了不到100个
PROGRAMS，有20多个可以资助H1。全部申请，拿到了10-15个面试（具体数字记不清了
）。到第7个的时候，就已经有2个PREMATCH加另一个几乎可以保证MATCH的位置。我就
选了一个当地的PREMATCH。声明一下，条件很一般，STEP1，2 都是80冒头，STEP3过了
，美国3流学校的PHD。两篇不入流的文章。
各人条件运气不同，仅供参考。切记一点：持之以恒。 |

发帖数: 53 | 14 认识一个CASE的病理住院医，他们给PREMATCH挺早的，还有纽约DOWNSTATE也是很
愿意给老中PREMATCH。都是很不错的PROGRAM，想呆在纽约的话，DOWNSTATE最好
了。如果自己分析一下这两个地方可以接受，可以早一点约面试时间，不过你要是
光看着哈佛、霍普金斯、华大什么的那就另外一回事了。
UAB这两年也都有CMG进去，大概比较欢迎有科研背景的CMG，不过他们自己的PHD一
大堆，所以UAB竞争会比较激烈。
另外病理面试都是一天，每个FACULTY谈半个多小时，的确需要充分准备。不像内科
面试，给你十分钟时间就很不错了，有点像final jeopardy,前面得分再多也没用，
就得靠最后五分钟突出表现，直接sudden death那种。 |

几个非常好的大学program。但我的条件和盘片不同，我已经毕业19年了，明年进
program时就20年了。能拿到这么多面试很出乎我的意料。
这个program的条件和盘片说的差不多。我犹豫的不是非得进好的program不可，是因为
这个program离家有近300迈，孩子在我目前的城市的很好的学校上学，如果接受offer
，我只能自己move过去。在家附近还有两个IV，可都排在了11月下旬。不可能等到那时
再给答复接不接受prematch。 |

LZ学术条件不错，既然已经拿到PreMatch，说明面试也蛮好。Program的择人标准大同
小异，你再拿PreMatch的可能性还是挺大的。现在这个Program听起来是差了点， 如果
没有去名校作Elective的机会，去好的Fellowship program的机会比较小。
没有绿卡是个大问题。从Match冲名校胜算难料。 |

朋友,同事也没有谁认为我是牛人.得到的IV多一些,一是成绩和其他背景还可以,更重要

program.我当时的分数是step-1, 78, step-2 84, had not taken step-3 yet. 那时
还是寄信申请，我一共寄出50 封申请信，全部是academic programs. 因那时有个说法
，很多美国毕业生反而愿意申请community hospital programs, 因较容易留在当地
private groups. 我当时一共受到11 个IVs. 我第一个IV 就在我本系，我在那里做了
几年research. 我当时就受到了prematch. 后来，我又去了另一个IV后，就决定
accepted the prematch in my department. 当然，其他九个地方的IVs 就都
cancelled.

Keep mind one thing: not all PDs are equal. Some PDs are powerul, some just
puppets (too junior, new in the position or strong chairman).
If this is a senior PD, most likely you are on the waiting list, meaning
that not impressive enough but rankable. Otherwise he/she would say
something like "we don't give out prematch, only for outstanding candidate..
.." or offer on the spot
for junior PDs, that means he/she got to discuss in the committee meeting or

这个program比较新,大概两三年吧,每年大概招8个人.
里面很多加勒比海毕业生,会讲西班牙语的.还有几个AMG,我去面试的时候没有CMG,好像
有个Korean姐姐，高年级的。面试前program给定酒店，就在医院旁边，过马路就是。
不过从机场出来要打车，没什么其他公共交通，45元左右单程。6个人面试我，每个15
分钟。其中有一个behavorist,是一个和蔼的中国裔psychologist.和我还用中文讲了一
会，PD人比较严肃，但是看起来很reasonable,很academic oriented.没有任何人问我
医学问题。整个医院很大很漂亮，就像个五星级酒店，新修的病房里都有大大的纯平电
视。儿童病房以Disney为Theme,将Disney动画投影到墙上，如同梦幻世界一般。
Orlando我以前旅游去过，挺舒服的城市，会讲西班牙语估计很重要。Program给
Prematch，好像听说之前一年给了一个分数270多的人，去年给了两个prematch.他们好
像挺喜欢高分的申请者。总体感觉是个挺不错的program. |

prematch的同学加入 MITBBS alumni contact list。这个list上目前有将近120人，基
本囊括了大部分麦地从2008年到现在已经进入program的同学，分布遍及东西南北。这
个list作为麦地的一个重要资源，持续地发挥着它的作用。每当有人写信给我求索即将
面试program的信息甚至connection的时候，我都会求助于这个list。而每次也都会得
到program里面兄弟姐妹积极的回应。
每个加入的同学都会得到一份contact list，希望你们也能够用它来network和帮助后
来的同学。已经在program里面但还没有在此list上的同学，以及attending也都热烈欢
