众多大哥大姐，小弟小妹，
我现在H1B，很快就要被layoff了。至今未找到工作。我独身一人，也没有对象。 我想
找一个F1 program去过渡一下。由于我是phd毕业。我觉得太烂的program会被移民局据
的。由于没有GRE成绩了，不可能进什么graduate program. 我现想申请一个
certificate program因为这个program所在学校不错。据他们的介绍这个program对外
国人的学费大约是七八千刀一年（不过我有点怀疑他们的这个数字）。但由于学校所在
的城市住房太贵, 我觉得每年开销可能很大。故在此恳请有相似经历的大哥大姐小弟小
妹推荐个可靠而且总的花费（学费和生活费）便宜的学校和program。在此致以诚挚的

个（现在又涨回去了）。买完担心没有“清洗”程式会不够方便，于是又入了pro 750
。以下是一些简单的使用体会。
黑色颗粒问题：
两个型号均未发现黑色颗粒。其中standard program是手动打清水，750测了两次，手
动以及smoothie模式打清水。
底座：
我收到的standard program这款是6300型号，重量比750的底座要轻很多。
噪声：
standard program噪声大于750。
口感：
750细腻程度大于standard program。我做了两组对照实验，黄瓜胡萝卜汁，玉米汁。
都是用同一来源、同样份量的材料。虽然两者都还是能吃出渣，但750的细腻度体现在
口感非常轻盈，非常creamy。另外玉米汁的实验中，750肉眼看不到任何渣，standard
program的盖子上有一点点玉米残留，没有被打倒。
warranty：
reconditioned保修五年。新产品七年。保修期内均为全包，且两边的shipping免费。

好像有说法是如果gifted program设在某个学校，这个学校的排名会上升。
这个gifted program是怎么安排师资的呢？假设这个program放在A校，那就是A校的老
师来教？还是有专门的gifted program的老师来教，如果gifted program换到其他学校
后，这些老师也会跟着去新的学校？
可是如果小孩在这个学校，但不上gifted program （不想上，或者是想上担考不进去
），那这个gifted program的存在对于是不是就是对这样的小孩来说没什么实际的意义？
gifted program 主要是提早学高年级的课程？还是更多的课外活动？

白天向一些同事和朋友打听了一下，发现这个Program里现在亚裔的比例压倒一切的高
啊（至少小学如此），是不是老中和老印们比较重视这个Program？我比较担忧的是这
样的亚裔比例下，孩子会不会陷入为了单纯的学术成绩压力，而变成你追我赶的死读书
，读死书的怪圈（就像我们成长的老路），最后成为那种“流水线上”出产的读书机器
？这个PROGRAM对孩子的创造力和想像力的培养有什么正面和负面的影响？
会纠结是因为我家娃不属于指哪儿打哪儿的乖宝宝型，喜欢自己作主拿主意，一分钟能
冒出8个新鲜主意，想象力丰富，动手能力也比较强，但不喜欢机械重复的事情（比如
练琴，比如反复做100道纯算式的数学题，但喜欢应用题，认为比较有趣）。因为不喜
欢的事情会和我fight得很厉害。虽然常弄得我心力交瘁，但是我也承认这也许就是她
的特点。如果进这个Program就是为了超前学习上好大学，那我要考虑一下。我认为进
好大学只不过是人生过程的一个阶段而已，决不是最终目的；如果她与生俱来的创造力
和想像力被压制/抹杀了，这孩子一辈子的成就大概也就可以看到头了。

并不系统。相对而言，法学院里也有LLM tax law方向，培训比较系统，但如果没有JD或
国内的法学位，是不能申请的。US News中tax law排前十五的法学院中只有U. of
Denver有Master of Taxation学位，
不要求法学背景。据program网页介绍，由于它是Rocky mountain area唯一的
taxation program，所以就业率几乎100%。这个program学制一年，学生一半会计，一半
律
师，很理想的组成。五大里面tax partner中有一部分就是该program毕业的。我在五大做
过几年，我当时的老板就是这个program毕业的。确实强。更多的信息可以参见它们学

Vanderbilt
收到了前3家的offer，vanderbilt还没出结果也不知道什么时候出，不过想下周做决定
了，於是连带它一起问了，若是大家都说vanderbilt不好那我就不等了。
先说我了解的情况：
upitt,算生统老牌学校了，biostat在school of public health，第一年TA，但听说近
年来财政紧张系里钱少，不知道以后会不会奖学金困难。在痞子堡，地方不算好吧。
ut gsbs,有谁听说过么？是ut school of public health和ut md anderson合办的
program. 上课在rice,research advisor md anderson里选。前两年fellowship，
第一年rotation，之后定方向。貌似不缺钱的样子。在Houston，我个人不喜欢texas，
但得承认Houston biomedicine机会还是挺多。

但有各式各样的IQ测试, 以免个别测试不准。这些测试号称和语言，背景无关，要求达
到95%正确率以上。
如果真是这么客观的话，那么说：在8，9分学区能进gifted program(他学区今年从9分
跌到8分），如果转学到10分学区，应该也能进 gifted program，是不是？还是10分学
区会提高要求，要求99%以上，以免太多学生挤在一个gifted program？
在pull out gifted program 里，对申请大学有帮助吗？如果有帮助的话，那么在8，9
分学区的gifted program里肯定比10分学区容易（人少，竞争少，师生比例小），这结
论如何。

1。对UC extension program 不是很了解，LZ在跟 MAcc program 比较时，是不是询问
/考虑一下extension program 在recuitment方面是不是也给学生提供帮助，学生是不
是可以参加job fair。我听说有些学校的certificate program，如 Santa Clara的，
学员是可比参加学校的meet the firm.
2。就我所知，加州的community college只有lower division课程。LZ以后想找好的职
位，肯定是要转学的。但lower division 的课程在CC修，还是相对便宜些。
3。以前没听说哪间UC有 MAcc/Tax program，UC Davis的program应该最近才开始的吧
？既然LZ念master都是要离家的，北加的话，要不要也同时比较一下SJSU/Golden Gate
这些比较成熟，有track record的program呢。 |

background, who are your recommendation letter writers等相关。可以参考你自己
program里背景相近的senior的情况。实在不放心就多报几个，以后cancel总比没有着
急好。另外interview多的话，对面试时提高的自信也有帮助。只是决定自己不去的
interview后尽快cancel，好给program时间邀请别人。给别人机会，另外也积攒些人品
，圈子不大，说不定哪天一起工作也难说，不要给人留个不顾别人感受的印象。
申请什么样的program：申请program也是各花入各眼的事。没有一定的标准。最好的是
最适合你的，不一定是名气最大的。不过下面一些因素可以考虑。（这些因素也是你在
rank program需要考虑的因素，不过在rank的时候加上了一个最大的考虑因素：
chemistry。）
Reputation： 我知道很多人都会用US News排名作为参考。这个一直有争议。一般排名

earlier, like say now.

来，也算是对自己工作一周年的小结。这里仅针对sas programming，欢迎大家讨论，

先说下自己的背景：化学转统计，西部大农村third tie学校。因为不喜欢系里搞
office politics quit了phd拿ms出来找工作。5门精算，sas 2证。刚开始找精算，最

月temp，今年一月有个机会老板和大老板直接给转了full time。在这里对老板和大老

June 19 (Bloomberg) -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac may get permission to
begin refinancing mortgages with loan-to-value ratios above 105 percent as
the Obama administration seeks to boost participation in its anti-
foreclosure programs.
