It's not a big deal at all. Small room should not be a big problem. But I
guess it could at least hold 10 people. As long as your committee members
can sit in it, other people can obtain chairs from neighboring rooms or just
standing. The equipment is also a piece of cake: all you need is a
projector and a screen, both could be easily obtained from your main office

发帖数: 915 | 6 1，好学生是宝，不能忽略。在具体技术上，可以说PI>博后>博士>硕士>本科生，但在
科研天份上，完全没有这个排序。能有幸遇到一两个出色的学生，无论他目前处在自己
人生的什么位置，都是相当幸运的，一定要好好重视，对他们的意见open minded。牢
记，他有可能比你都厉害。这类学生如果有了motivation，根本不需要你督促也完全不
care你的钱。可以从头到尾设计课题并实行，你只要在他有问题的时候（根据你这么多
年的经验）答疑和需要器件的时候掏钱就行了。
2，靠正能量带动车轮前行。之前我们chair竞选dean的时候，在竞选演讲上就说了这个
问题。Do not focus entirely on solving negative problems. 很多时候你觉得这些
问题是必须有个了结的，好像一定要有个结果其他事情才能继续。这些负面问题是永远
解决不完的。应该focus on积极地方面，能把整个团队往前带着走的东西。不光工作，
生活家庭也是这样。（最近我又一次从版上的某位低调牛人身上学到了这个道理。）
3，忍耐。不像原先那样想到什么就马上做了，想说什么就马上说了。无论是什么计划

现有物件:30寸电视(准备卖掉), infocus4805投影仪, 幕布一块,闲置dell 5100笔记本一
台.闲置sony17寸纯平显示器一个,dell商用台式机一台(配置还行P4,512M,整合显卡,没有
AGP口).
特殊要求:少花钱.就算电视卖300,花销不能比这多很多.
计划方案:

's black. I'm serious. Who wants a white projector in a dark theater? I came
close to buying other projectors, but the white shell would stick out like
a sore thumb. The PRO8100 blends in nicely with my black drop down ceiling.

电脑的主display, 总是不能成功启动。尝试了显示模板：1280 x 768, 1280 x 720,
对应room文件改用1280的。
但是如果把projector (1280x720)设为电脑主显示，就没问题。但是这样播放就在小
LCD上了，不是我想要的。
有没有高人成功设置过类似的配置？

Plan to buy $1600 level LCD 1080p projector, and has designated dark room in
basement for HT, in size of 22 feet by 11 feet.
With this kind of budget and 7.1 system using projector and 110 inch screen,
how much should I spend on speakers?
So seems like I need to go with Floor stand 3-way speakers for the front
pair instead of any satellite ones? |

1. Disc player (HDMI, Component)
2. Hard Drive player (HDMI, Component)
3. PC (Karaoke专用, 显卡只有DVI或VGA输出, 没有HDMI)
考虑把这三个源都接到receiver, 然后由receiver统一输出, 特别是video, 希望能由
receiver统一通过HDMI输出到projector, 而不是三个源的video分别各自输出到
projector .
后者需要三根比较长的线(HDMI和或component x 2, DVI或VGA x 1), 而前者只需要三
根比较短的线与一根比较长的HDMI线).
另外还需要这个receiver能decode AAC等较新的格式.
请问这个思路靠谱么? 有哪个receiver能满足这个要求? 谢谢. |

I finally hooked up all my gears and tested my system last night. This is
the first time I hooked up everything.
There is big hum noise from FL, FR, center speakers and subwoofer. I didn't
check sorround speakers beause the hum is just too loud from the speakers I
mentioned above.

这两张是在看欧洲杯时的照片。
这个影院是用投影仪直接打在墙上。图像的对角有 160吋。下面这张图可以看出图像大
小。
这个荧幕墙刷的二十几块一加仑的 Behr 漆（Silver Screen/Flat)。效果还不错。
下面是墙上的走线。这些插头的高度比常规的特意地要低一些，因为要给屏幕留出空间。
这是后面的环绕音箱 和 Projector.
音响是 7.1 的。Receiver 是 Onkyo TX-SR608 (刚 Upgrade 到 TX-NR717）。音箱是
Polk Audio 的 RM87 和 Subwoofer。Projector 是 Epson 3010. 是 1080P、3D 的投
影仪，效果不错，已经用了一年多了。 |

，Acer H5360的projector, Sony S590 的BLURAY DVD 碟机，带3D放映功能。老实讲，
看DVD和BLU RAY 真的是效果不错，所以想把3D的影片试一试，结果怎么都放不出来，
projector 调到DLP 3D 状态，DVD player 是AUTO的状态，就是放不出来。看到网上说
可以调节什么side by side, 等，但是setting里没有这一项。懂行的朋友请指教。多

买东西之前一般看review,基本买的人多，>4分的才买
电视， toshiba小的LED39‘ $300 (暂时不打算换大的贵的)
projector, epson WXGA, $420, 看电影很爽，直接投到墙上 （省了买screen）
receiver yamaha 200多
5.1 channel yamaha $100 (这个捡了个大便宜)，一天突然发现一个网站打半折
tablet,带hdmi, $120
BR player, sony reconditioned, $30
一堆线，switch, $100 ?
电视架，$300 ?,没多大用，就是为了好看一点
以前买的卡拉ok的混音的，好像100多？没有怎么利用，话筒家里也有，但没时间搞卡
拉ok，歌库等，很烦的
一共 $1700,不少钱了，心痛
用了hdmi splitter, 电视和projector可以同时看
感觉最爽的就是看电影和听交响乐

房间的尺寸大约是 宽5 米左右，长 8 米。准确的尺寸我回家以后再量一次。
现在想开始走线装一套家庭影院。因为房间不算大，我想5.1 声道的就够了。主要用途
用来看电影，听音乐，偶尔唱一下卡拉ok。不知道是不是买一套5.1音箱就可以兼顾了。

thanks. I decied to go with TV instead of projector after trying the projector
since:
simple reason: sometimes wife wants to watch something but you want to
read/do sth else, or vice versa.

连,
要run一根很长很粗的video cable to projector, 在living room真不太好办
Plasma太贵而且很耗电，还有burn-in concern, 也不轻, 好处就是薄，色彩好
Direct View LCD is still too expensive, and size is still small
CRT Direct View 40" 到头了, 太小，太bulky
CRT RPTV is ok if space/weight is not a concern for you, cheap too
After all these trade-offs, LCD/DLP RPTV is a good choice. DLP has slightly
better color than LCD RPTV. Just get a good deal with LCD or DLP RPTV.
I think 50"~60" is good |

外加走一跟35FT的HDMI给projector, 其实最难的不是走线，走线就是不断开洞，一个
不行就再开一个，难的是如何不让这些线互相干扰，还有音箱的布局。最后还有补

箱的entertainment center,下面cut 了个洞装subwoofer, 用了pocket door, 中间部
分可以拉出来，我还蛮喜欢的，平常不用关起来可以挡灰尘。 床加night stands,总共
有 12 个大抽屉，我可以放很多东西。他最得意的是他那会升降的栏杆，因为我们家宝
宝从床上摔下来骨折过，这下晚上睡觉不用太担心了，也不影响看projector。

今天简单收拾了一下卧室，再来他diy的卧室家具，包括床架（带两面栏杆，4个抽屉）
，床头柜（每边带4个抽屉），床头书架，entertainment center（安装了投影仪，音
响系统，自动控制的投影屏幕等），和sliding door。

这个卧室LD 是花了很多心思在细节的布置上，以实用方便为主，床头两边有插座，网

发帖数: 1528 | 49 只有TV 的话，觉得墙里埋一根 HDMI 线就够了，买一个 AV receiver 处理所有信号源
，包括Blu Ray player,TV cable ...
3个speakers 的线可能不够，如果以后想用 5.1 甚至7.1 系统的话。
有线网基本上是可有可无的，我们家拉了也基本上不用，10Mbs wireless 的速度
streaming 1080p 一点问题都没有。
如果HDMI 线从屋的一端拉到另外一端太长的话，信号可能会变得很弱。我们的拉了
50ft HMDI 线加上几个wall outlet转接到3D Projector，Projector 经常没信号。后
来加了个信号增强器才好。也有可能是那些HDMI wall outlets 质量不行。 |

because projectors and tvs advance so fast, it is my opinion not to invest
too much on the high-end models, because very soon, they will be outdated (
imagine 4k high life-time LED projectors will be around next year).
I would just get the one with the lowest price possible given it has all the
