When a prospective student entering the U.S. on a B-1
or B-2 visa, the CBP immigration inspector will check
box 25 on the reverse side of the upper portion of the
I-94 card (the upper portion which the officer keeps).
When the person later files I-539 to change to F-1

家讲的一样，没有读PL，在13天的时候给RFE，说我没有证明我“将来”会给ＵS带来贡
献。。。和contributions 不够。为了说的有理有据，在朋友指点下，我在PL里面引用
了些AAO案例，1172根本不依据这些案例规则。。。或者说根本没有去读我的PL。
我的背景算中等吧
美国一般学校生物PhD，现名校 postdoc
review 41篇 11个期刊，有两封editor的support letters
authorship 10篇文章（含一作7篇和coauthor 3篇，3个review文章）杂志专业排名在1
-5％之内。10篇会议摘要（3篇被选中talk，<10%的几率吧）。
这两项都过，虽然＃1172把我的authorship跟别人弄混了。。。（我之前发贴问过，不
知道需不需要把这个问题指出来）

JOB OFFER，但是必须要记住：如果你身处美国之外的话，还是需要持一封prospective
employer提供的材料到美国使馆证明 -- 你来到美国之后会继续从事你的专业研究，
而且他/她会给你提供一个适当的职位给你。也就是说，如果你因为生物领域的杰出研
究得到了EB-1A approval，而你却找了在美国的一家金融公司的工作，那么VO完全有可
能（甚至是一定）拒绝给你移民签证的。如果你没有prospective employer的材料，只
是对VO说“我打算先到美国，然后再找与我的专业领域有关的工作”，那么VO也极有可

我所知道的博士博士后的三大聚居区，就是上面说过的prospect street, livingstone
street and orange street：
prospect street上都是yale的房产，得向yale申请。其中whitehall和esplanade两个
居住区是博士生住的，prospect garden是博士后住的。那里人多，所以孩子多，老人
多，playground多，children's playgroups也多。附近science park里有个叫什么三
棵树的地方，每天早上大概九点到十一点，是老人带小孩聚会聊天玩耍的地方。
whitehall还有幼儿园（open to public, not residents alone），越早排队越好，常
要等两年才有名额。
livingstone street上有一个住宅楼（不知道具体哪号），我没去过，听说房子较老。
价格便宜。中国人多。附近有east rock playground，还有episcopal church每周三有
children's music playgroup |
