Hi all,
For any of you who may not know, typically if a fox or any other wild animal
(beaver, racoon, possum, etc) approaches you and most especially if they
are hissing, growling, etc., you need to call animal control and report the
incident as it is very possible that the animal could be rabid (have rabies)
. It is not normal for a wild animal to approach people.

- Rabies can only be transmitted by a rabid animal. A rabid dog or cat cannot
live for more than 10 days after it is infectious. So, if your dog is still
alive and well, since it is already 7 days later, most likely, it is not
infectious when it bits you and you will be fine. Though the incubation time
for rabies can be very long (months), a dog within its incubation period for
this disease is NOT infectious.

Rabid是什么书呢，一本介绍狂犬病的科普读物。
狂犬病毒是最古老的病毒，除了疫苗，至今还是无药可治。
狂犬病毒的潜伏期很长，目前最长记录19年。狂犬病病毒进入人体后经过潜伏期而
后进入神经细胞，缓慢上行，上行到脊髓在进入恼，最终病发。一旦进入人脑，人就失
去了理智，甚至咬人，或许这就是吸血鬼、狼人的来由了。狂犬病症状达到顶峰，会出
现精神紧张、痉挛、幻觉等症状，进入高度兴奋状态，表情极其恐怖、烦躁不安、惊惧
