Austin这周肯定要上。Jennings今天据说情况又恶化了。我肯定不上（他礼拜一比赛，
要是周一再告诉我他上不了场，我死定了。）
另外三个其实都差不多。Amendola receptions肯定最多，但是TD比较难，yards也未必
多。Jackson receptions应该排第二，同样也是TD比较难。LaFell receptions应该比
较少，但是yards和TD的可能会爆发一下。基本上就是三个半斤八两。 |

最后一场婚礼，这场婚礼是有史以来最惊险的一场，也是最有意思的一场。
话说这对新人是我遇到最好说话的新人。新娘从问价到签约，都是网上进行的。签约前
我还反复问她要不要见一次，她说她和新郎在两地，见面也只能见她自己，但是相信我
的portfolio,于是就签了。婚礼前两周，我也只是和他们视频了一次。一直到
rehearsal那天晚上才真正见到本人。新郎是犹太人，在哈佛读博后，新娘是印度人，
在UCLA认识的。一个犹太教，一个是基督徒，一个180以上吧，一个150左右，无论肤色
身高家庭背景都相差很大。
他们的婚礼地点在Natural History Museum of LA County, 以恐龙化石著名，还有各
种动物标本什么的。Ceremony订在museum的rotunda，reception在mammal hall.
Rehearsal那天晚上我带着5D2去测光，发现环境光非常暗，尤其是mammal hall, 没有
射灯的地方甚至有可能对不上焦 。和博物馆的管理员沟通之后发现，他们的供电和供

发帖数: 14299 | 18 老美同事结婚，仪式在country club里面举行，真是速战速决，30分钟都没到，搞定仪
式。然后就是reception，是水果，面包，鸡肉串，牛肉串之类的自助，饮料，酒水也
自助。大伙都吃了浅浅一盘就不吃了，然后四处聊天。搞得我也没好意思接着吃。新郎
新娘first dance的时候人都吃得差不多了，有的人都已经走了。草草切完蛋糕，大伙
都走了。真是简单啊。回家肚子还是饿的，只好来一碗稀饭填填肚子。看来老美的
reception就是一party，相比，老中的reception就是一banquet。
出门匆忙中居然把相机忘带了。幸亏没带，所有客人中没有一个人带数码单反的，大家
就是手机，偶尔小傻瓜拍拍完了。要是带了，肯定会被人说成是不识相，烧包了。拍照
的摄影师也只是一台5D2加24-70和XB IS 2（希望是2），副手MM也是5D2，一直前面是
一个501.2 L，没换过。感觉他们拍摄角度有些欠缺，有几个角度我觉得应该必须拍的
，居然没有拍。而且没有专职摄像的。 |

发帖数: 1968 | 19 没经历过不要乱说，我在这边经历的两次葬礼，同学，年轻的女孩，没大家子亲人
火葬，没有墓地，没有复杂的仪式，全靠同学们帮忙，没请服务，
停尸体，火葬，几项最基本的就是六千。全部由同学朋友diy, 没请服务，音乐，牧师
，一概没有，
其中一次是我客串的告别式司仪，简单的reception，加上两个小时的殡仪馆告别，就
是一万多了。
一次reception是公司hr的人给定的地方，一般的club那种，最便宜的档次，中午人均
50的收费，hr定好了，亲属出来买的单，我们替亲属觉得太贵了，很多人出来殡仪馆就
没有跟去club,后来还是按照预先估计的人数收费的，大公司的hr直接定地方觉得很正
常，这一项又是好几千，她还年轻，估计的人头也不多，就是好几千。
当时收的普通同事朋友的吊唁金，也
就刚刚够cover reception.这位女生父母在国内，也患癌症，我们都觉得葬礼的钱能再
帮她省省就好了，可没地方省了，hr是老美，大概后来知道怪她定贵了，还来解释。没经
历过的人不要乱喷了，你哪里知道就是火葬也买棺材的，整个棺材盖上从殡仪馆运到火

断一下，得到阳台上信号才稳定。2G信号都如此，3G信号就更不用说了。
当然reception也要看地方，但总的来说，电信的信号coverage和reception要明显好过
联通，有点类似于美国的Verizon vs. AT&T...电信和联通的差距还要大一些。

SIGMOD/PODS 2005开完了，现在写出一点记录，与大家分享。
SIGMOD2005，June 13-16, 在Baltimore开，这个地方好闷热啊，可能因为Baltimore是个
海港。开会的Sheraton Hotel就在市中心的Baltimore Inner Harbor旁边，相关的几个活
动也在Inner Harbor附近举行。13号PODS就已经开始了。然后从14号开始与SIGMOD一起举
行，15号PODS结束，16号SIGMOD结束。12号和17号各有一些Workshop。今年的ICDE submi
ssion deadline是21号，时间不太好。所以我没有参加PODS和workshop，下面只谈SIGMOD
。
很遗憾的是只跟sir在14号早上匆匆见了一面，也不知道sir其他时间都躲在什么地方干什
么去了，开会的间歇，reception上，根本见不到他。
这次会议的reception和banquet比较有意思。13号晚上的Welcome Reception在一个cruis
e上举行，船在海港内开了 |

因为NTP是根据Round-trip delay计算时间，不大可能十分精确吧。
所以才允许systematic bias
（不过这我只是猜测，不懂。
题外话，按说所谓的卫星时钟同步，gps也够准的，当然gps也有漂移。

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Vietnamese air force planes on Saturday
spotted two large oil slicks close to where a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777
went missing earlier in the day, the first sign that the aircraft carrying
239 people had crashed.
