今天的讲座是很基本的。希望你们不要期待什么深刻教法。其实你们根本不该有这样的
期待。我对自己了解得不多，根据我对自己一点点的认识，我并不是一个完美的追寻者
。我当然有追寻，但我追寻的是其他的东西，我追寻的并不是过去五十年我的导师们教
导我的东西。我今天会做的更多是忏悔。即便今时今日，还有人对灵修之道感兴趣，这
是很让人鼓舞的。你们今晚放弃其他事情来到这里，而我今天讲的东西不会对你的健康
、友情等带来直接的利益。
在今天这个充满偏执的时代，我们通常寻找的是有关于健康、家庭、个人、生意的管理
。这不是我们今天要讨论的，我们今天谈的东西从世俗角度看是完全没用的。你如果有
一点好奇心、兴趣、勇气，要追求无用，那我们今天的讨论可能会在你生命中戳出一个
无法修补的洞。
再次强调，我不是谈论追寻的最佳人选。精神上来说，你们很多人比我更有优势。我出
生在一个很强的佛教家庭，我一睁开眼，眼前就是佛教标识。我的父母都是佛教狂热分
子。父母两边的家庭都认为他们和修行有很大关系。所以我内心没有真正探索过，这对

RELUCTANTLY ACCEPT要好得多。
曾经据过一篇文章，觉得非常惋惜，整篇文章非常新而且论证严密，
一看就是花了很多功夫的结果，前后REFER了三四篇STATISTICS方面
的期刊，只可惜最根本的FORMULATION不准确，或者说错了。尽管
据了这个PAPER，我还是写了很多正面的评价。看了其他审稿人的意见，
也能看出类似的心情。一个审稿人还建议作者改成SHORT LETTER。
虽然工作白做，但是给人的印象是改作者是一个SERIOUS RESEARCHER，
这个REPUTATION有时很重要。
相比之下，不情愿地ACCEPT PAPER的情况是比较常见的。相信大家可能
有过类似感受。翻来富去炒同样的东西，可是看看跟自己或者自己
的老板都是一个战线的，只好违心地接受，转过身来吐了一地。有的人
膀上牛老板，发PAPER一串，未必是个好事。搞学术的人，基本的鉴赏
能力都是有的，即使这个人RESEARCH做得不甚成功，好PAPER滥PAPER
都是读得出来的。REPUTATION一旦建立，再改就不容 |
