关于这个处在分界线的分数，我是这么看的，不一定对。表面上，有些分数很close，
好像和被funded差不多。事实上，人家想不想fund你，是非常明确的yes and no。很多
就是坏在，看似很近，总觉得有希望，就试了又试，但其实永远都不会中。喜欢你，就
少挑毛病，你就上去了。不喜欢你，总能在一些琐碎的地方找出这个那个的毛病。我原
先老错误的认为，只要我resubmit能把这些毛病解决，分就过线了。但总是“差那么一
点点”。根源在，不是这些小毛病的问题，是人家根本不喜欢啊。

最大的区别有以下几点
1）很清楚地知道绝大多数社会科学专业的本科生的目标不是学术，而是咨询，投行，
法学院。针对绝大多数学生，重要的只是普及本学科的基本思考方法。如果按照培养科
研人员的方式把重点放在非常rigorous的理论知识，推导定理上面，学生和老师的挫败
感都会非常强烈。
教授觉得和同事之间可以自由交流的术语概念，对着本科生就要掰开了揉碎了反复讲，
就算是大四学生也不能假设他们轻易地掌握了某些很基本的概念。见过很多学过初级宏
观，货币银行学的大四学生仍然觉得“印钱”是美联储有家印刷厂呼啦呼啦地印绿票子
，然后派运钞车一家一家银行派送……
2）之前说过绝大多数社会科学专业的学生目标在咨询，投行，法学院，这个教授会经
常穿插一些某些概念在这些领域是怎么应用的。这些是学生表现最积极最感兴趣的部份。
3）课件是现成的复习提纲，概括了所有考试可能会考到的重要的知识点。讲课的时候
每个知识点都配上一到两个让人印象深刻的故事／段子。学生上课听故事听得如痴如醉
，快复习了看看课件还能记得那些故事，和最基本的知识点

生长期以来遭受严重的歧视。“全国高校的经验研究”（NSCE）项目进行了超过9000个
学生采访。普林斯顿大学社会学家托马斯Espenshade进行严格的回归分析，得出如下结
果，此此结果也被新闻媒体广泛引用：如果想被名牌大学录取，在其它条件类似的情况
下，亚裔学生 SAT 成绩必须要比白人高140分，比西班牙裔高280分，比黑人高450分（

In fact, you do not need any research to know with almost mathematical
certainty that active managed investments collectively will lose to low cost
index funds because of fees, therefore a ***randomly*** selected actively
managed portfolio will stand no chance. Rick the salesman conveniently omit
the key words "randomly selected" as a sales pitch.

function to work, the list should be very long. That is, in C = 9/10*1 + 1/
10*(1+C), we put the same C on both sides, which implies that C is
independent of the length of the list. This is of course not true, but only
an approximation.
