park and Beihai park for skating.
I have a pair of short track skates bought here, but can't find anywhere to
practice, nor can I find any speed skating pals. The rink admin drives me a
way when they see the long blade... where are you now in US? Do you have
good luck finding somewhere to play?

He would cycle 70 miles as a warm up from his home in Madison to the ice
rink in Milwakee, do an ice work out, then ride the bike back home.

skiing in the backyard. So far, so good. Actually, since I never got over my
fear of height, XC works better for me. Hates riding on lifts.
If the kids were younger, I might set up an ice rink. Saw a bunch of lads
playing ice hockey in the backyard, seemed working fine.
So, even in the frozen world of frozen New England winter, a bigger yard

其实rink里面也不太冷,特别是活动开后,浑身发热,穿的少点正好.我觉得多穿点挺好,
小孩不怕摔,练习就更容易了. |

区附近20miles内就有六个大冰场，最少都两个到三个rink那种，全是男孩各种level的
冰球比赛，女孩ice show每年最少两次。北方老美对冰上运动的热情真是没的说。 |

80年代，我们到了初中才学习英语的，遗憾的是学了3年，啥也不会，考试基本上
是猜谜，中考时得了8分。实话实说，那时我做梦也不敢相信自己今生可以学会英语。
第二年复读时，我遇到了生命中的贵人--张老师，她利用下午放学的时间，从第一册开
始，天天给我们补课，我就慢慢的入了门是她把我带入了英语之门，再次中考时考了80
多分。顺利的上了高中和大学，大学时过了6级，英语学得还是不错的 。但是真正的听
说能力很差的，和大多数学生一样，是哑巴英语。
工作后，一次偶然的机会，在收音机上，听到了教学节目大家说英语,大概可以听
懂一半，它那标准的、美妙的、类似北方儿化音的美式英语，一下子吸引了我，我一下
就着了迷。后来我又在网络上，又学了5年，并做了150万字的英语笔记。为外贸和翻译
工作打下了一些基础了。
回忆自己这么多年的磕磕绊绊的学习经历，算是对英语主要是口语有了一些理解。
1、缺少良好的学习环境，特别是听说的环境是学语言最大的弊端。往大里说，我
们没有太多和老外接触的机会，很少听到原声的英语。（电视的节目和真人讲话是不同
