从Sunrise出来，直接沿410往西北，下午1点多到了Bellevue的过桥园吃了中饭（过桥
米线还是一如既往的好吃，小笼包和凉菜拼盘都很不错），然后到Seattle。星期五下
午Seattle downtown人山人海，绕了好几圈没有停车位，有几个路口是接近45度的大坡
，得要一只脚刹车一只脚油门才不会滑下去。最后时间不够了就直奔Seattle最好的到
此一游照相点Kerry Park。说是park，但其实就是一个小观景台，可以同时看到
Seattle downtown大楼，海湾，天气好的话还有Mount Rainier。周五下午人也不太多
，停车就是街趴，因为大家都是照个到此一游就走了，停车位一点也不紧张。Kerry

发帖数: 486 | 21 实事求是的讲，SF当然比Seattle更有大城市的感觉了。Seattle出了那个横竖不过10个block左右的小downtown基本就稀稀拉拉的和农村没区别了。SF虽然只有7x7 square mile, 但是这7x7 square mile基本上都是满满的很密集的房子挨房子的。商店的种类，酒吧和club的种类，中国城，餐馆的种类基本上是全面多于Seattle的。SF的公共交通当然也不是Seattle能比的。Bart虽然很破旧很慢，但至少是地铁不是轻轨，Seattle刚刚建成第一条轻轨线呢，轨道交通基本还处在non-existent的状态。
当然湾区大部分人不生活在SF. SF市的人口本来就不多。而且SF比较孤立，东边的
Oakland不但不安全，过桥还要收6块钱。南边的几个区也都不是很好。所以除非你住在SF市内，否则出于各种原因你是不会住的离它很近的。另外SF市内开车很不爽。路陡还堵，找不到停车位，但是Bart出了SF就是commuter rail, 变得很少很不方便。所以一般人没事也不大会去SF。此外大部分人其实住在南湾, 离SF已经很远了。南湾离SF的距离，要比Redmond或... 阅读全帖 |

我个人比较喜欢city life，在seattle的话，虽然不住在downtown附近，但是从
redmond开车去downtown或者UW唱k也就20-30分钟，所以朋友一起约去玩都并不觉得麻
烦。
看了下SF的地图，如果住fremont/union city一带，距离SF downtown似乎就比较远了
，开车40分钟的话就感觉不是很方便。我看到有推荐Albany一带的，距离SF比较近，能
否介绍一下那一带的情况呢？去SF是否方便？thx.

发帖数: 1 | 27 收到了UW-Tacoma的CS Master的录取；我是生物转行，所以很开心了。但我当时是胡乱
申请这个项目，以为这是野鸡大学。最近两天才搞清楚，UW是multi-campus
university，和UC系统完全不同。这个Tacoma校区也是UW的一部分，所以最后拿到的
diploma也是UW的。而且我去看了这个项目的course，发现一点也不简单，而且录取进
来的中国学生本科都是国内top的。。。所以基本决定去这个学校了。
当然，最重要的原因还是location，觉得Seattle公司多，所以容易拿到intern/job？
请教一下：
1. 听人说近年来大量Tech公司进驻Seattle，所以Seattle的经济算是美国大城市最好
的了？有很多工作机会？
2. Seattle公司多，但学校却很少，除了UW，就只有Seattle Univ和新建的NEU-
Seattle了。所以工作多，学生少，那么西雅图local的学生找到intern/job的概率就大
一些？
3. 不知道UW-Tacoma的学生，在HR眼里会被当成是"UW"的么？我说我是UW的，人家会下

Diversity and food: Both places are very diversified. But Bay Area has more
Asian population for sure. Food and shopping wise, Bay Area is a better
place for Chinese to live with easy access to a lot of good Chinese
restaurants. On the other hand, there aren't that many good Chinese
restaurant in the greater Seattle area. You would have to drive to Vancouver
for that.

过呢，可以先去三番住两年，被加州“蹂躏”过之后，再搬来西丫头，就彻底断了住加
州的念头了。

8月25日到9月1日到Seattle和周边游玩，这里记录一些内容回报本版，希望对后来者有
帮助。
之前的准备：3个人（其中1个4岁小朋友），总的指导思想是尽量休闲。另外呢，大老
远来一趟，该去的都去看看。
一共是7天，全程租车，在Priceline上拍的，Alamo的Standard, 18刀每天。旅馆主要
也是在Priceline上拍的，在Seattle住了5晚，拍的机场附近的Double Tree（据说
Priceline上拍这个区域3星以上，很大可能拍到Double Tree，果然）。另外在省城住
了1晚，奥林匹克国家公园西门外的Forks住了1晚。
对于要去玩的地方，只有个大概的概念，没有做具体功课，基本上是抗起行李就走，每
天出发之前才开始找地址，输入GPS。

前几天和我家LD去Seattle和Portland周边玩了近一个星期，他给我们的行程提了不少
建议，让我们在时间安排和景点选择上都做得恰到好处，还在Chinatown热情款待我们
，饭后带我们参观华大。我因临行匆忙，忘带了GPS的mount，他也毫不犹豫的借给我他
的mount，省去了我们在旅途中不少麻烦。
另外感谢monkeyface提供的玩canon beach和columbia river的insight，我基本上没怎
么做计划，就把该去的点都去了。感谢afhrh提供的Forks住宿信息，forks motel确实
不错。先这样不在网上公开的住处，多亏在版上遇到朋友帮忙，不然还真很难找到。
我们的行程大致是：
Olympic 2天
Mt. Rainier 1.5天
Portland及附近（Columbia River, Mt. Hood, Cannon Beach） 2天
Seattle 1天

I think it is no brainer to come to Seattle! Seattle is a way better city
for Asian (Chinese) than NC. Weather in Seattle is also better. I can't live
in the place with all kinds of allergies, tons of bugs and no major airline
hub.
Seattle houses are cheaper than most of the major metropolitans. You buy

8.30-9.3出差到seattle，住在机场附近，8.30和9.3两个整天也可以出来玩。
准备8.27晚提前到seattle，9.6中午离开。利用2个周末好好在seattle玩玩。
老婆和3岁的小孩可能也跟着去。
大概看了一下精华区，初步的打算是这样的：
8.27晚-8.29晚，住在Olympia/或Tacoma，在Olympic公园玩。
（因为有孩子，基本上就不走trail了，也不camping，不知2天是否太多？）
8.30白天，8.30-9.2晚上,住在机场附近，主要玩seattle市内的景点。
（能否推荐几个景点，老婆可以带着小孩在白天去玩）
9.3-9.5，住在Tacoma，在Mt Rainier公园玩。
（同样，不走trail，不camping，3天是否太多了？）
有没有必要抽出1～1.5天去North Cascades看看呢？
