system to Solaris 2.7. I never installed this version. I
have some dumb questions here:
First, do I need to reformat the hard disk because it was
hacked? Or I can just use the update option on the CD?
Second, are there any tricky things I should remember before
installation?
Third, how long it will take for a full installation?
Any suggestions and comments are welcome. Thanks.

both running Solaris. Now the code wouldn't compile. I'm thinking about the
architectural difference being the reason. Is there a way to specify the
architecture as a macro before compiling so gcc understands it? BTW, gcc does
support i*86 on Solaris, is it right? Thanks in advance. |

But today when I booted it, X doesn't work. I just got a black screen
with a terminal at the center. No menu, no title bar, no nothing.
And it took more than 5 minutes for X to start.
I promise it was OK before. The only thing I changed is the monitor.
Does it matter? What's the problem? How to reconfigure X window in Solaris,
any tools?

in your home network---- the PC+Solaris,
for a router, it just do "IP masquerading" or NAT,
I doubt it has ability to do DHCP,
so you can set up DHCP on solaris, then each machine gets a
local IP automatically,
well, I suggest that you check the IP on PC, it must be a real
internet IP now, not a local IP, because you connect it directly
to modem, time-warner only allows one ip for each modem unless you pay
more.

by solaris.So I changed it with a Kingston card. when booting, run the
assistant again, it shows the network card is DEC, is this correct? And how to

it doesn't matter if it reads as a Dec card or not. I assume you used -r
option when load the solaris. find the name/id for the card, elx01 or etc,
this will appear when you boot up. then "ifconfig elx01 plumb", then you use
"ifconfig -a" you should see the card.
if you can't get the card working better get a 3com905b or 3com905c. both
works well with solaris Intel 8 after 10/01 release.

Tried to install some patch from sun and directly downloaded them, then
unzip under Solaris but it never worked.
It gives error mesg saying wrong zip file.
I could unzip the file in linux though.
really weird.
Anyone has some idea on this?
BTW, I downloaded the patch and put on another ftp since my DNS does
work now and I could not direct download from sun.
Is this related to what happened?
Like binary format or something

利。但是装完后发现第二块硬盘上变成了空白。
有可能是两个原因，
1。 安装的时候系统安装程序自动重新分区了第二块硬盘。
2。 我再装完后，曾试图看第二块硬盘的分区表。用：
fdisk /dev/rdsk/c0t2d0s0 （第2硬盘）
系统问：type 'y' to accept the default partition. otherwise type 'n' to edit
the partition table. 回答 y.
我是一个solaris 新手。现在想想可能是fdisk把原来的分区信息删除了。现在我该怎么
办呢？ 有没有什么办法能恢复分区表？我有很多重要信息在第2个硬盘上。

偶前些天装了solaris 10 在偶的笔记本上，有网友要看截图，就做了几张放在flickr上
了。昨天在distrowatch.com逛的时候，看到一张小图标，图片竟然像是偶贴的，于是顺
着链接过去，果然就是偶贴在filckr上的其中一张。而且在flickr上竟然被排在第二位了

detect winXP partition, this is just like Lilo. But Lilo is more beautiful
than it.
It is said there will be "grub" with Solaris 10 Express (from some version,
not sure). Then you need to add entries in menu.1st.
Note: do not make Windows XP "active" while using grub on *nix.

安装的时候有一个页面会问，是不是联网了，选择是，下一个页面就会问是怎样联网的，
其中有好几个选项，最后面一个（或者倒数第二个？记得不太清楚了）就是 DHCP 选项，
选它就可以了。
如果你选了别的，就会问你要nameserver的名字或者IP地址什么的。
Solaris 8 的时候应该也可以的呀？ 这种server/client的结构，据说就是sun发明的，
如果不把DHCP放进Solaris里去，真是很奇怪的事情了。 |

一体。可能会从 open vendor 变成 proprietary vendor 。那么 Solaris 作
为 Sun 的东西，Oracle 可能会注重卖 Sun hardware + Solaris + Oracle

总的来说是一个很好的杆，Graphite，非常轻，比Adam略为轻一点，适合女性，增加了
挥杆的准确性，曾经试过Adam, Adam略为重一些，如果打准了，比Callaway打得远一些
。考虑到轻重和美观，同时Adam Ideal A12OS的杆略长，本人个子不高，介于Petite和
standard之间，偏向standard，后来选择了Callaway。（本人外貌协会的，轻拍）
以前上场都是用老公的Tommy Armour，打得跟狗屎一样，偶尔能打一个正常的。今天和
老公打球，发球明显比以前远多了，不怕过河，好几次甚至打得比老公还远（老公也是
新手，但是比我打得好得多）。可惜7号杆练习的少，比driver重些。
Callaway Solarie的set包包是没有支架的，放在车库里，被轻碰倒在地，当时没有多
想，今天上场，发现5号木杆断了，全新的杆，还没拆开过。以前看review就有有人抱
怨杆的质量不好，打了两次把杆打断了。我这杆放在包里，还有一个单独的外套，竟然
断了... |
