上个周末行800miles，观West Virginia,Virginia和Maryland三州秋色，涉三州秋水，最后在这三州交汇的地方Harpers Ferry钓鱼，上了一条14寸多的小嘴。正道是：三州秋色多俊美，Potomac小嘴真肥胖！
同去钓鱼的朋友lingjiangxian建议我在鱼版贴一下，连同这个周末一起拍的风景照片也发在鱼版。那好。大家多指导啊。

系，似乎是那里的一个警官按sunset strip来命名的

发帖数: 19 | 4 事情是这样的，7月4号那天，本人在I－15 sunset city 段超速被pullover。当时警察
大姐给了张citation，没有写罚多少，让我打电话给 sunset justice court。回到加
州后，本人按照citation上的号码给court打了n遍电话，都是一个自动应答机，没有
option可以转人工台，比较ft。不知道版上有没有兄弟跟他们打过交道，是不是有其他
的电话或者联系方式什么的。比较担心，哪天被警察pullover，直接关起来的说。谢谢

crystal park is a very nice community, new buildings, good management, close
to high way. There are a lot of apartment communities in that area and Crys
tal Park is the high-end one. The only thing is that it's very close to Rout
e 15 and might be noisy if your building is facing the high way. When I did
my apartment hunginting I checked out many apartment complexes. Crystal Park
and Sunset are the two best ones. Sunset is off Exit 14. They are both buil

以offline为核心的大牛们当机立断去吃了螃蟹，摘了桃子，战果辉煌，让大家的敬仰
犹如lava一样连绵不绝。于是各路闲人也纷纷显灵，争先恐后地挤过去了。若要鉴定某
某某是不是个闲人，只要看看他今年是否去过大岛就知道了。
本来以为lava一旦开流，就会不舍昼夜倒进大海，直到这个周期结束。其实不是这样，
每天的情况还是略有不同。有闲人一月份去的当天无船出发，因为那天没有岩浆入海。
两月有些天可以看到十几条，有些天只有两三条，木有规律，全看人品。
暮色中的lava最夺目，我们作为帮闲，自然不能免俗地订了sunset tour。从小港口到
岩浆入海的地方大约要一小时，据说常年是大风大浪，一路过山车，从头湿到脚。不过
放心好了，到了lava附近，热浪袭人，衣服全烤干。我们没有数有多少条入海，只觉得
眼花撩乱，时光飞逝，还没看饱就被运回去了，在黑暗中再享受一次过山车。和我们同
时出发还有另一条8人小船，据说便宜不少，但是离日落还远他们就走了。真正的闲人
，切莫误上如此而已惜时如金的小船。

发帖数: 686 | 19 早上在沙漠看日出，晚上在海滩看日落，恐怕只有加州才有这么得天独厚的条件吧。
加州几日，弄了两次满脚的沙，一次是在 La Jolla beach，一次是在 Death Valley的
Dunes 。每次回到旅馆都要赶快脱鞋子，哗啦哗啦抖出很多沙。
La Jolla beach 的沙很奇怪，底下是黑色的，上面薄薄一层是黄色的。被海浪拍过之
后，形成黑黄相间的条纹，很好看。
沙滩上捡了一个奇怪的东东，看似贝壳不是贝壳，上面有个像五个叶片的植物化石一样
的东东，底下有个小洞，里面是石灰质结构。看了半天也不知道什么。
后来跑去sunset beach 看sunset，很美，只是海风吹的有点冷。 而 Death Valley的
沙就不同了，被风吹的特别有形，日头一照 ，层次鲜明。而月光下更另有一番情趣，
颇有些大漠沙如雪，燕山月似钩的味道。 |

hike to "The Wave". Today's plan was to drive to Bryce Canyon National Park.
The drive took about 2.5 hours. Arrived at Best Western Ruby's Inn right
outside the park entrance. It was a very nice hotel, probably the best among
all that I had stayed so far since this road trip started. Checked in, took
some rests, and I set out to photography sunset at Bryce Canyon.

National Park. Surprise but quite happy to learn that I-15 had a speed limit
of 75 mph...

发帖数: 13455 | 24 按照原定计划, 在Moab的两天里, 第一天是Arches,第二天是Islands in the Sky 和
Dead Horse Point.因为儿子在去Double Arche的路上受伤, 没有能够走到Dedicate
Arche, 心里一直耿耿于怀.第二天起来看儿子又活蹦乱跳的样子,领导就原谅了我的过
失, 同意再探Dedicate.
上午匆匆游了Canyonlands和Dead Horse Point, 出来快三点钟了. 原计划是赶到
Needles然后在一个叫Bluff的小镇歇息的, 现在直奔Dedicate Arche, 四点钟开始往上
走. 虽然这一天的天气不好, 这时候已经开始放晴, 西下的阳光穿过云层投射在前面的
山梁上, 似乎预示着会有最好的收获: Dedicate Arche in Sunset. 儿子虽然还不满三
岁, 但爬起山来却兴致很高, 还不让妈妈抱, 就是动作太慢. 等到好不容易走完这个1.
5mile长, 500 feet高的trail,已经快六点钟了.更糟糕的是云层又聚集过来, 根本看不
到sunset了. 但终究还是爬了上来, 总算是不虚此行了. |

t I enjoyed in the States. Never been to Italy though. RSVP before going, ot
herwise you may wait 30min to 1 hour.
2. Sunset cruise is a choice, try liberty or west union. That's way to relax
. But it depends on luck whether you could see sunset - it could be cloudy -
during my 3 night's stay, always cloudy.

reach grand canyon in the afternoon, taking the bus for west rim, find a
good place for sunset, and then camping at grand canyon; 6th morning, drive
through and exit GC at east entrance, and drive to Page, you can visit
horseshoe bend on the way, and stop at glen canyon for a break, and then
drive to bryce canyon.. you will probably arrive at bryce afternoon, you can

这个旅行已经在我的脑海中过了不知道多少遍，这次终于成行，感谢mitbbs.com的
travel版给我们留下的宝贵参考，在做功课的过程中受益匪浅。
1. Oct 9, 我们从东部出发，穿越了美国的东西，大概下午4:30左右，飞机经过
Grand Canyon 上空，第一次在三四千米的高空领略了大峡谷的风范，并看到了Powell
湖和Mead湖，淡蓝色的湖水镶嵌在红色，白色和绿色的大地上和蓝天白云构成了一幅美
妙的图画。大约下午5:00多飞抵Las Vegas, 这个梦幻一般的城堡在大山的环绕之间，
点缀在这片黄色的土地上， 让人耳目一新。
Las Vegas 的好客，在我们一下飞机就深深地感受到，机场的大厅里，到处都是老虎机
，和我们很少见到的热带植物。
取车的时候，也把我们的车升级到很高档的SUV. 等我们拿到租好的车，太阳已经落山
了, 我们直接开车来到了‘The strip’, 先饱了眼福，我们从南到北又从北到南，这
里的灯红酒绿让我们忘却了一路的劳顿。

不太合适。不过既然有后来人真的想参考，我就简单说说吧：
1. Grand Canyon看日落应该在Hopi Point,这是人家官网明明白白推荐的“While Hopi
Point is unquestionably a desirable viewpoint for sunset, it attracts
crowds of people and buses, especially in the summer.”，lz一行却跑到desert
view去看，而且第二天又去了一次，不知道为什么。
2. 如果想在Grand Canyon hiking一小段就看到河，应该走South Kaibab Trail，lz一
行却走了Bright Angel。
3. 到了Page不去Antelop Canyon，那个Glen Canyon Dam有什么看头。
4. 号称去了Canyonlands, 却不提Mesa Arch，大概只是从那里路过了一下，根本没停
车吧。

magnificent.

2. Bryce Canyon
Bryce Canyon 我们去过两次，冬夏各一次。这个地方海拔比较高，夏天去也觉得凉飕
飕的，冬天就有点冷了。但是冬天里那些暗红色hoodoo在白雪的点缀之下也是另一番景
象。跟别的national park比起来，bryce canyon不算大，但是那些形态各异的hoodoo
让我们震撼了两次。一般来讲，每个national park都有它自己独特的地方，像death
valley 的负海拔，arches的石拱， saguaro的仙人柱，第一次去必然会让人觉得震撼
，以前从来没见过嘛。但是如果第二次去还能被震撼的话，那必然是个让人流连忘返之
地。zion 我们也去过两次，第二次就没有被震撼了。
站在bryce canyon 上面向下俯视，林立的hoodooo看起来像兵马俑。小canyon有小
canyon的好处，很快就能走到canyon的谷底，不像grand canyon，走下去要好几个钟头

can, then adjust your plan on the raod.
chicago is the middle point. rest 1 day there and adjust you plan based on
how your parents feel, are they tired? how is the weather in
denver/SD, and then to decide which route to take.
In Chicago, tour the city there, take architecture boat tour, eat pho at
vietnam Tank, or spanish tapa at Café Iberico.

D2: LA->Las Vegas, stay in Las Vegas.
D3: Head to Zion NP, stay in Zion up to 4pm. Go to Bryce NP for sunset, stay
in Bryce NP.
D4: Bryce NP; Head to Page, stay in Page.
D5: Horseshoe bend; Antelop Canyon; Head to Grand Canyon, sunset @ Hopi
point; Leave grand canyon in the night and drive as much as possible, stay
somewhere between Grand canyon and San Diego.
D6: Drive to san diego, stay in SD.
D7: sea world @ SD. Drive back to LA in the night.

early, there is no one there. if you want to see sunrise, then turn left,
drive about 200meter, there is parking, and deck. otherwise, drive straight,
and it's a loop (anti-clock).
white sand dune open about 20 minute before sunrise. the ranger will come to
unlock the gate. drive straight for about 110-15 minutes. turn left,
parking the car, then walk as far as you can, sunrise from your behind, and

elevation, more snow, cold. Winter is not the best time to visit Antelope.
best time to new mexico are either Christmas (birding, canyon road, native
indian ceremony) or end of Sept (fall color, balloon fiesta, Taos feast day)
. so if you have not purchase flight ticket, and you have time during
christmas season, go at that time. best.

south rim is most popular, 4 million people go there annually. arrived there
day 1 before 3pm, drive east to pima point/navajo point to see sunset.
drive back to village for one night. next morning, drive west to hopi point/
hermit rest for sunrise. then leave before noon to Sedona. Sedona receive 3
million visotor annually. watch sunset at airport road.
west rim is near las vegas, where you can walk the sky walk. in Indian rez,

准备6月中旬开始（大概6月11号）花一个月时间在美国的AZ, CO, Utah, CA 和Oregon
的超过十个国家公园大旅行，road trip.
因为现在持续到6月底的Hertz one-way car rental很便宜， 所以我准备分成2段旅游
，每段2周，中间在Las Vegas休息2天。前一段的半个月玩AZ, CO, Utah的国家公园，
后一段的半个月玩CA 和Oregon的国家公园,每段都开车将近2000迈。
首先需要飞到Phoenix取车。第一段的具体行程如下：

发帖数: 1973 | 48 第二天当晚到达预定的另一个ComfortInn时，也已8点半多， 比预期的要晚。 原因就
是那GPS带错路， 幸好我们再往回开时，发现了Hotel 打的广告。 教训4，如果去的
目的地是跨州的， 这个GPS乱指路，是比较平常的事。 应该先开到要去的目的地州，
然后再设定具体州内目的地。 或是预先打印出路线图，然后GPS设定在map, 驾驶员按
打印的路线图开。
酒店同样的标配，一样的大小，连外形也差不多，却要贵一点，一百十几刀。 估计是
地点位于几个national parks 的中间，去哪里都方便些。距离我们下一站的Bryce 两
小时车程。
ZT本安排check in 后再出去吃饭， 我觉得太费时间，便要求留在酒店给孩子洗漱，孩
子她爸去外面买吃的。 这要夸夸闺女去的preschool, 非常注重培养孩子的自理能力，
出来旅游明显轻松很多。 我在洗澡前就先给孩子关照好程序， 1）自己脱衣服，2)妈
妈给洗澡 3) 洗完了，自己出来拿浴巾擦干 4） 自己爬到床上穿衣服，然后坐床上看
电视等妈妈。 这样一来，等我们洗漱完，真好ZT回来一起吃晚餐。

arrived 9/10, and left 9/18. It was a driving tour, 1600 miles in 9 days, 2
night tent camp in wonder lake, 2 night in hostel, 4 nights are car camping.
I flew in Fairbanks --> Denali --> ANC--> Seward --> Cooper Landing -->
Valdez --> Denali Hwy --> Denali lottery driving tour to Wonder lake -->
Fairbanks --> Chena hot spring --> Flew out FAI

记得美国的样子就可以.Salida=Exit. Pare=Stop, Oeste=West, Este=East, Transito
=One way. 个位数的路线是高速；PR两位数路线算一级free way；PR三位数路线其实还
好没那么夸张,只是比较窄.整体交通感觉跟美国完全一样,可以稍微区别的是,当绿灯的
