有几个问题不太确定怎么处理，在这里说说看看大家的意见。
我的研究方向和欧洲的合作挺多的。常常会有那边实验室的学生来要东西。大部分的学
生都不错，拿到代码和synopsis之后都能自己搞清楚，即使是有问题，也是明显思考过
的。但偶尔会遇到很麻烦的学生
今年年初有一个学生总是challenge我的一个近似。这个近似是大家约定俗成，
empirical的近似，已经用了10年了。我们项目用了这个近似，但项目的卖点不在这个
上面。他对这个近似死缠烂打，还说服了他的PI，做了很多simulation来证明近似的不
合理。这些simulation都没有满足是使用近似的条件，当然显得不合理。我在会议中都
指出了，但是他还是不放弃，认为应该开发更好的近似；同时也不做自己在电话会议里
面被分配的任务。我老板和他老板都放手不管，我彻底那他没辙。他老板在欧洲影响挺
大，我也不想得罪，但这样下去，完全没法合作。最多是我做所有的工作，然后挂他们
组的名字发表？

你太天真了吧。好多人老说什么什么地方的60k等价于bay area的 rent 100k, own
120k
之类的，其实那只能娱乐一下观众。什么生活指数，除了和住房有关的，根本各地就差不
了太多。加州，西雅图这些地方因为气候宜人其他生活开支还更低呢。回到住房，列出租
房和自住两种工资实在可笑。要是你买了房子，经济更拮据一点，难道就该给你加工资？
过几年你房子里build equity了，是不是还该还公司一些钱啊？这些房子贵的地方在未来
还是增值最可能的地区，除非当地经济人口结构发生变化。
房价高是会影响生活质量，但公司没有义务补这个差价。倒是各地税收的差别更有参考意
义。你查这种等价工资只能看看而已。

Oracle(Sun), eBay, Intel, Qualcomm, Cadence, Synopsys, Xilinx, etc. etc. fresh PhD统统都是senior title. 就硅谷所有EE/CS的公司统着来看，fresh PhD拿senior title的比普通title的多的多。只不过比较火的几家公司都不给senior title而已。
Broadcom fresh phd是staff title.

不过我也不想做design了。面了几家ee公司，人家都说我软件背景太多了。而且design
里大部分人都是做verif，挺没意思的，也赚不了大钱。还是想往软件靠，以后回国发

algorithm intesive。但不知去X混和亚麻（非核心组）混，几年后跳槽的话market

他们对于silicon的重视要大于对软件的重视 软件可以看成基本是白送的
大客户甚至还要附赠搭上Application Engineer
你可以说他们算法很多
但是实际工作大多数都是在maintain和debug 真正ground-up的可能也不是很多
而且Xilinx的那个CEO把glassdoor分数从best place to work一路搞到了2.5分 |

，有裁员自然就有很多人在glassdoor上抱怨，那些抱怨大多都是一个事情，所以要辩
证的看。
Xilinx的软件免费是因为他们的cost可以算到chip里去，这个business model对软件实
现的价值比EDA用完就扔掉要强的多。他们卖多少chip就ship多少软件，软件的可用性
也是客户购买chip的一个因素，这个EDA哪能比。Semi chip卖的再好，
也不会回去给EDA公司发bonus. |
