我是3.8号被Lay Off的，最明显的迹象是business season不忙，二月份也没有加班的
时後。
现在想想当时自己还是很勇敢。 当天被lay off的时候，忍住悲痛，勇敢的走进
Partner的办公室，跟他们哭诉如果现在被layoff会马上遣返回国。希望他们能把我放
上non-pay leave.本来想要三个月，可是HR只能给一个月。 死中求活，总算有了两个
月的时间。其实自己心里也知道到时候可能需要recent paycheck,这个问题比较难解决
。但是当时顾及不了那么多了，没有non-pay leave基本就是4.8号就要回国了。 老板
都很nice,这也是几十个人的小公司的好处，如果和大老板平时关系比较好，很多事情
可以work around.虽然不能继续雇佣我，但是也帮了我很多忙。

刚打开了一个，上面说：活得糊涂的人，容易幸福；活得太清醒的人，容易烦恼
。清醒的人看得太真切，凡事太过较真，烦恼无处不在；而糊涂的人，不知如何计较，
虽然简单粗糙，却因此觅得人生的大境界。
这都什么乱七八糟的逻辑，清醒的人怎么会凡事较真呢？因为清醒，不该较真时
他才不会较真嘛；而活得糊涂的人，无法用心感知世界，哪来的幸福感和人生境界呢？
每天这么多心灵鸡汤倒进去，不论是清醒还是糊涂的人，都会营养过剩，不是进内分泌
科看医生，就是进精神病科看病。
我感觉一个盛产心灵鸡汤的时代，多半是一个思想和文化都比较凌乱的社会。现
在你已经无法判断任何事情了，每天你听到一个好消息，马上就有人把黑乎乎的内幕给
揭开了；每当你听到一个悲剧，马上有人说这是个骗局。原来老百姓抱怨骂街是常事，
现在连官员们也时兴吐槽了，动辄用一句“你懂的”把问题推还给糊里糊涂的我们。
在任时一向谨言慎行的包括大学校长在内的官员们，有不少退休后放开了，满嘴

一个好的原则，就是离自己越近的关系的人，对待越好。
比如，自己的家人肯定强过同学，同学又强过同乡，同乡强过一般的同胞华人，而一般
的华人又强过一般的东亚人。之后才是老美和其它国家的人，最后才是老印之类这种跟
华人对着干的人。这是人抱团的本能，也是一个好的原则。我们当时上商科专业的
Ethics的时候，老师也讲过这种Tribalism是人的本能，也是大多数人会遵守的道德习
惯。
所以如果没有比这个台湾人跟你关系更近的人，那么你就应该重点帮他。但是如果同时
有大陆人，或者甚至是有老乡，那么这个跟你的联系更近的人就应该帮了。
当然，很明显的那种白眼狼个例除外。 |

大家应该都听说过环境对基因会产生诱发或抑制的作用吧。例如说科学家发现有种“害羞基因”，但如果有这个基因的孩子，他们的父母对他如果没有过分保护并带他从小去各种各样的环境，这种基因的影响就会被抑制，孩子还是可以落落大方。
我自己觉得性倾向虽然可能有基因的影响在里面，但以下几个数据让我觉得it is much more by choice rather than by birth.或者说后天的经历和环境的影响远大于先天的影响。

其实，这就是他们的西方白人的文化。他们对于社交场合跟对于生意场合的处理是两回
事。生意场上是business is business，社交场合，基本就是 tribalism， 部族主义
，不容外人插足的。除了有的高层人士，他们的社交场合本来就是生意场合，所以还会
容得一些少量异族。
大多数华人跟白人主流的交流都局限于生意场合，看见他们还挺随和的还可以交流很好
的不是，根本没有机会看到他们的另外一面。
最近从BOBBY JINDAL事件看美国人评论，才学到一个俗语叫做 No go zone，其他人不

下面是从TSA官网找到的：
http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/acceptable-ids
里面只说了需要“Driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued
by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) for the sole purpose of
identification”。 新的ID就算有black bar，不也是“for the sole
purpose of identification”么？
我看今天有没有空打个电话问问TSA

问了，基本上来说，是看在场TSA officer的决定。。。囧

吧。近年来，看到整个流行音乐届hip-hop化，大家千篇一律地跟着这种枯燥单调的音乐
形式扭屁股，像一群SB一样肤浅，只因为这东西好写、好做、好卖，我感到很痛心。hi
p-hop 10年前是个给音乐带来新气象的创新流派，而现在已经是个绊脚石了。黑人有ta
lent，可以带来原生态的一些东西，成为好的养分，比如blues就是后来摇滚乐的源头。
但是，如果他们这种原生态的东西主宰了市场，那只能导致全民音乐智商下降几十个百
分点，成为一群只知道露乳沟扭屁股的tribal people。现在的各大唱片公司日子不好过
，推出好东西也赚不到什么钱。所以没什么开拓精神，得过且过。对流行音乐来说，目
前这个时代比较悲哀，也许过几年人们终于受不了了，会有个新的潮流颠覆今天的现状
