德国网站Heise Online证实（德语）IBM停止了Cell处理器的未来开发。 Cell处理器一
度被认为是一项革命性的产品，但实际应用证明它并不比竞争对手突出。IBM主管
DeepComputing的副总裁David Turek证实PoweXCell 8i是最后一款Cell处理器。当然停
止芯片设计并不意味着它的死亡，目前多数的Cell芯片主要由东芝公司生产，使用在索
尼公司的PS3主机上。Sun 曾经指出，3.2GHz的Cell处理器还没有1.4GHz的SUN Niagara
处理器快。有评论称，它并不比GPGPU强大，而灵活性又不如真正的CPU，IBM放弃它并
不让人意外。 |
