i ran "stress -c 8", and ran "turbostat", still shows default freq.

感觉相当不错
当时是因为硬盘空间不够忍痛割爱的
那年头滚轮鼠标还是新鲜玩意儿
都没发现redhat支持起来有问题
所有硬件全部一装上马
感觉ubuntu吹的比较响
底子还是有点薄
还有可能就是ubuntu现在主要不面对初级用户了？ |

我的1G硬盘三个分区，事先空出350G一个分区。为了防止Ubuntu将我的硬盘自动格式化
，硬盘做了备份。Ubuntu自动把300G一分为二，在170G的分区装上了。我想这还行啊，
事先低估了开源软件。
我今天又用最新的Ubuntu14.4，想覆盖10.4, 安装中拒绝了两个版本side by side的选
项，结果也不问我，整个硬盘被格式化一个分区。 |

装好的时候好好的一个系统
啥毛病没有
然后就在这儿放着
不停的更新升级
自己就慢慢变成了个monster
现在每次一远程过去
看见三四个错误
apache2天天crash
两天不重启就卡顿
连samba/nfs都慢的要死
重启就好了但是持续不到24小时
重启的时候经常黑屏死机要拔电源
内存4G远超需求
查了硬盘内存都啥毛病没有
就是丫ubuntu系统给搞砸了
关键是啥都没动
就放在那丫自己就慢慢把自己升级成这样了 |

太低，Display setting里面没有显示器1920*1200的选项。网上找的一些方法（装vm
tools / 自己加resolution）都没用。
哪位大牛能给个方法该怎么搞吗？如果改不了分辨率，ubuntu/debian简直没法用。

to me, upgrading/installing Ubuntu is so much easier compared to other OSes.
I've never had any issue keeping my files.
All you need to do is to partition your drive before installing, and reserve
a partition for /home, where all your personal files are stored.
you boot into Ubuntu live usb, run gparted to create all the needed
partitions before installing a new system.
typically, for a local system, my partition table looks like this:
/ 10-20G
/usr 20G
/boot 1G
swap 4-8G

looks a bit complicated, but glad it works.
at work, I have about 12 desktops, all of them export drives for sharing,
and all of them can see/use the drives from other desktops. iprof shows 950+
Mbps speed between any of the two nodes (the network will be upgraded to
10GB soon).
if you don't care unified user account management, all you need to do is to
install nfs-kernel-server, autofs, and samba. In my case, I have a master

SSD -- Samsung 840. Ubuntu is able to detect the SSD, giving the correct
information. But I cannot mount it to access the files.
Taking out the SSD and connects it as an external hard drive to an Win10
computer, nothing shows up.
Does it mean the SSD is still alive?
Any suggestions?

可是undock之后，ubuntu还在显示双屏的，为了改变为单屏
需要把xorg.conf修改一下，重新启动xwindows，才能恢复成单屏。
变成双屏也是要重启xwindows。这个太麻烦了。
能不能象windows xp一样的，随时改变扩展方式呢？

在ubuntu开机情况下，一插上usb口，ubuntu立即死翘翘了，什么响应都没有了
键盘鼠标都死了，只有按电源5秒钟关机。

successfully. There are partition /dev/sdb1,5,3,and 4. (please see my
following new post).
The next step is identify which NTFS partition of 4 partitions is the blank
NTFS partition labeled with "DATA2"? or which partition, sdb1, 5,3,or 4 is
the blank NTFS partition "DATA2", so I can install Ubuntu ?

of installation on multiple external partitions.
I found another simple solution. I just found an old 20GB hard drive and put
it into my USB enclosure. Now, I simplified the installation environment: one
external USB partition. I already installed Ubuntu successfully. In result,
I have a dual-booting system: Ubuntu, and Windows.
There are steps and some trick for dual-booting, and I googled it.

website;
I update the Synaptic Package Manager's repo;
now when I search for "amsn" in SPM, I can see two amsns:
1 amsn
2 amsn-data
both of them have the same latest version:0.97.2~debian-2ubuntu2
so, they are same and I choose either of them?
PS. how can I input Chinese in ubuntu 9.04? |
