repartition the hard drive because once you damage it you'll have problem
booting into the windows.
You should get an empty partition on windows first (just delete the 2GB you
have for ubuntu now and merge it with that) and install ubuntun on that. It
will ask you to repartition it during install.
Even simpler, you can install ubuntu inside a windows partition using wubi.
It is a little slower, but not by much. |

还有一个就是中文显示的问题，ubuntu安装时候我选的是中文，可有些软件读中文音乐
文件时还是不能正确显示中文，xp里面从来没这个问题. |

have one yet. It'll give you the option to repartition. You can delete C
at that point.
You don't have to wipe out the vista partition. Just use ubuntu to shrink
the C drive. |

但是,再用ubuntu光盘安装的时候,根本不认XP分区了.
认为整个硬盘是空的! 昨天还认识.
我怀疑是我用Ext2IFS之后,整个分区表ubuntu都不认识了----
还有这个Gparted是在linux下用的吧.我现在还没安装成. |

用过wubi.但是说什么地方permission denied,给我一个出错文件就停止了.
问题是ubuntu现在不认识我的XP系统,楞说我电脑上没有操作系统.
用chkdsk改了一些错,然后ubuntu连图形界面都没有了.上来就是一大堆错
主要是buffer I/O 和Squashfs 不能读等等.
看来是我硬盘被改得一团糟了. 不过有趣的是XP运行一点问题都没有.
像我现在这情况是不是不能装linux了? 要装只能先删掉XP了? |

现在屏幕坏了，把它拆了，外接了一个显示器，Ubuntu不干活了，启动时显示一些正常文字信
息后，说没有显示器，只能进入文本模式； windowsXP不受影响。
如果用Backtrack live CD，能正常启动，但分辨率很低，不能调。
咋办？
这破烂虽破，当微型台式机偶尔用用还是可以的。 |

后因为房间太热，就把server，因为常开着，放到楼下去
结果这样一来，运行ubuntu 的机器看不到WIN XP里面的共享目录，
这是我目前唯一的转移大文件到server的方法。
WIN XP里面的共享设置似乎没有问题，
本机上可以看到 shared doc，但是在UBUNTU里面，无论如何
都看不到哪怕目录。
搬运机器以后，基本设置我都没改过，只是把以前的
DHCP分配IP改成了 static ip address。
我在网上搜了一个下午，没有找到解决的办法，而且
不停地改设置，然后去另外一个机器上试，就快要跑崩溃了... |

04。所有一切看起来都顺利，但是进ubuntu了以后发现有线网不行（无线网反而没什么
问题）。修改/etc/network/interfaces文件成
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
后重启网络，出现
No DHCPOFFERS received.
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.
错误。用ifconfig看eth0设备的IP是一个内部IP，169.×××。
用lshw命令看pci设备发现网卡的制造商能被正确认出来（我的网卡是Atheros AR8132
），但是product下面仍然是制造商的名字；前面network下还写了个什么unclaimed。
到此我已经完全没辙了，不知道这个问题到底是因何而起，自己该怎么办。请高手给指
条路，不胜感激啊！
另本人不坚持用ubuntu，如果别的linux发行版可能没有这个网络问题，只要能和vista
并存，那也行（最好没有启动问题）。 |

误，好像是不能写入帮助文件之类的，估计问题不大就没理睬了。然后我运行insmod [
安装路径]/art1e.ko（驱动名），哈哈，有线连接这厮终于被我搞出来了：）
看来问题就是ubuntu不支持该款网卡，装了驱动就好了。可是ubuntu为什么不给个系统
提示说网卡认不出呢？你不能把用户都当成专家。linux要变得易用还是任重道远啊。

需要开机自动执行的命令是调节LCD亮度，这条调亮度命令是需要先输入密码使用
在root用户权限之下，才能执行的调亮度命令：
$sudo sh -c "echo -n 60 > /proc/acpi/video/VID1/LCD/brightness"
但是，每次执行sudo命令需要用户手动输入密码，很麻烦，没有自动化的设置。
希望的系统设置为可以让OS每次开机后自动调节LCD亮度：
1,既可以使Ubuntu自动执行调节LCD亮度，又
2,不需要每次开机后用户手动输入root用户的密码。谢谢。 |

04, 8.04, 8.10, 9.04 all very hot. Its roaring to 75deg-C and after I had
CPU frequency scaling setting 2GHz--> 1GHz, it gets slightly better such
that computer will not restart all of a sudden. This is still really not

问题一：为什么firefox在ubuntu下面看好像清晰程度比较差，而且好像没有在winxp下

问题二：好多安装的程序找不到。比如我玩ubuntu的时候把network manager不知道搞
到哪里去了。从snaptic里面看还是有，没有丢掉。但是我找不到。另外我安装了一个
统计软件叫R。安装完成以后也没有像winxp那样在program里面加一个。而是放到了一
个bin folder去了。好像还是和乱七八糟其他各种各样的bin文件放在一起。请问这样
正常嘛？怎么样才能想windows哪样把安装好的软件or shortcut都放在一个地方，用的
时候方便。多谢了。 |

在ubuntu下设置的links（快捷方式）放在桌面指向d:/FFF这个文件夹。
每次刚开机，桌面就显示link不能用，点了也说失效，一定要到placese里面访问一次d
盘，然后再点桌面的link就ok了。这是啥关系？有啥办法不要这么麻烦不？
