发帖数: 197 | 7 背景：LD头段时间失业，找工作几个月未果，因为原来的专业不好，所以现在想换到CS
来做码工。
问题：在Bay area附近有什么比较好点（好申请，牌子还受认可的）大学呢， San
jose state U 是我们的第一选择，但是他们网页上说，因为budget cut，明年春天不
收California residents, 因为我现在是用h1b，LD是h4，而且我们已经在这里居住超
过10个月，这个情况下我们算是California residents吗。 如果错过明年春天，那么
等到明年秋天还有一年多的时间，感觉中间的间隙太长了。一个想法是我们以国际学生
的身份入学，申请F1签证，然后第二个学期转到h4，请问这样可行吗？
其他还有什么学校吗，我只知道还有East Bay University， 还有Silicon Valley
Univeristy, 但是那些学校的credit好像都不怎么样。头几天我和招我进来的boss聊天
，他就说了，他招人的时候，学校差于sjsu的一概不看，所以太差的学校好像读了得不
偿失。

Purdue, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor 都很不错。Colorado Boulder算不上
老牌工科牛校。 |

发帖数: 3417 | 10 Fremont 84桥附近的话，到MTV shoreline上班高峰期40－45分钟，非高峰期25-30分钟
。差别主要就集中在willow rd或者university ave（这两条路半斤八两，每天都会有
些不同，但总体都比较堵). 上桥无论哪个方向基本都很通畅。桥上只是偶尔会堵，比
如昨天就很堵，但是大部分时候都比几条著名高速通畅。主要还是下桥的分流不好，堵
在下桥的几条路上。所以Facebook的人很好，下了桥右拐就到了，完全避免了这两条
local. MTV的就不可避免要走这两条路。但是跟南边的人比优点就是不用走shoreline
出口，
那个出口实在是极品而且没有alternative.
下班我一般走的很晚，所以感觉不到什么traffic. 但是偶尔走的早的时候感觉下班堵
车是比上班严重的。除了willow或者univeristy会堵，如果买在非ardenwood的几个
american high区，到decoto路口或者转880也可能会堵一下。
每个人对commute time的接受能力不同，反正实际情况就是这样，自己斟酌一下吧。

统计，为自己以及今后要买房子，租房子的人提供参考
从版上大家的推荐来看，有这么几个好学区，而且适合华人
Katy - KISD
Sugar Land - FBISD
Memorial - SBISD
Bellaire - part of HISD （HISD整体上很烂）
West University - part of HISD
Pearland - PISD
Clear Lake - CCISD
然后从网站上看的结果是
KISD - 10号北面的学校一般不好，南面的一般都不错，离开10号越南面越好，
exemplary 学校多,而且要看发展的情况，南面靠10号的Taylor高中现在就不行了
FBISD - 几个华人多的新区都不错，而且全美竞赛很多获奖者都是从那几个学校出来的
，但是老区学校不怎么样
SBISD - 整体下降很多，exemplary school没有几个了，不值得那么高的房价，怀疑富
人子女上私立了

1. In the UM housing site, it says UM has some residnece halls for graduate
students, such as Oxford and vera Baits housing. Are they good? can you cook
